This I know, for the Bible tells me so; Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong. Refrain: Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. Jesus loves me! He who died, heaven s gates to open wide; He will wash away my sin, let his little child come in. Refrain: Jesus loves me! He will stay close beside me all the way; If I love him, when I die, he will take me home on high. Refrain: GREETING P The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C And also with you. KYRIE Prelude He s Got the Whole World in His Hands CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS (you may remain seated) P Blessed be the holy Trinity, the one who fashions us, the one who heals us, the one who reforms us again and again. C Amen. P Let us confess our sin, calling for God's transforming power. Source of all life, C we confess that we have not allowed your grace to set us free. We fear that we are not good enough. We hear your word of love freely given to us, yet we expect others to earn it. We turn the church inward, rather than moving it outward. Forgive us. Stir us. Reform us to be a church powered by love, willing to speak for what is right, act for what is just, and seek the healing of your whole creation. Amen. P God hears our cry and sends the Spirit to change us and to empower our lives in the world. Our sins are forgiven, God's love is unconditional, and we are raised up as God's people who will always be made new, in the name of Jesus Christ. C Amen 1 2

2 HYMN OF PRAISE SALUTATION AND RESPONSE PRAYER OF THE DAY P O Lord God, enliven and preserve your church with your perpetual mercy. Without your help, we mortals will fail; remove far from us everything that is harmful, and lead us toward all that gives life and salvation, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. C Amen. 3 4

3 FIRST LESSON: Ezekiel 33: So you, mortal, I have made a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them 8 warning from me. If I say to the wicked, "O wicked ones, you shall surely die," and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but their blood I will 9 require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked to turn from their ways, and they do not turn from their ways, the wicked shall die in their iniquity, but you will 10 have saved your life. Now you, mortal, say to the house of Israel, Thus you have said: "Our transgressions and our sins weigh upon us, and we waste away because of them; how then can we live?" 11 Say to them, As I live, says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from their ways and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel? A C The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God. SECOND LESSON: Romans 13: Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for the one who loves another has 9 fulfilled the law. The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not covet"; and any other commandment, are summed up in this word, "Love your 10 neighbor as yourself." Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore, love is the fulfilling 11 of the law. Besides this, you know what time it is, how it is now the moment for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we became believers; 12 the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us then lay aside the works of darkness and put 13 on the armor of light; let us live honorably as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and 14 jealousy. Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. A C The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God. PSALM 119: Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep your teaching; I shall keep it with all my heart. 35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for that is my desire. 36 Incline my heart to your decrees and not to unjust gain. 37 Turn my eyes from be- holding falsehood; give me life in your way. 38 Fulfill your promise to your servant, which is for those who fear you. 39 Turn away the reproach that I dread, because your judg- ments are good. 40 Behold, I long for your commandments; by your righteousness en- liven me. 5 * GOSPEL: Matthew 18:15-20 (please stand as you are able) 15 [Jesus said to the disciples:] "If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to 16 you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two 6 others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two 17 or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a

4 18 Gentile and a tax collector. Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose 19 on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be 20 done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Dr. Seuss books or simple, small worded books that you may have lying around the house and are willing to part with, would be put to very good use! Picture books are also great. Please be mindful of reading levels these students are learning English; it is NOT their first language; and keep in mind that paperback books will be cheaper to ship than hard-cover books.
