3 BATYA SEGAL S TESTIMONY VOICES FROM ISRAEL Thursday 2nd August at 8.30pm Batya Segal shares her testimony in the final episode of Voices from Israel. Batya was born in Jerusalem after her parents, descendants of the Tribe of Levi, made Aliyah to Israel in the late 1930s from Yemen. They brought her up listening to classical, Israeli and Yemenite music, and she is celebrated as a songwriter in both English and Hebrew. Today, Batya and her husband Barry live on the outskirts of Jerusalem, and in 1994 they established Vision for Israel and The Joseph Storehouse to help disadvantaged people in Israel and other nations. Watch as Howard Conder interviews Batya about her life and ministry.

7 Jacqui Barithwaite, Presenter. YOU HAVE TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT This old advertising slogan, reminding people that in order to win you have to take part, has resonated with me often over the years. It seems such an obvious statement but has been such a successful one as so often we need this encouragement as we so want the gold yet for some reason we forget that the more we are in, the more we win. The beautiful rich life with God is best lived when our lives are cleaved to Him. When we walk closely with Him, all our hearts and minds are given totally to him. He implores us to draw near, and encourages us that as we abide with him, He abides with us. James 4.8 He encourages us not to Pray about some things at some times but about everything and at all times. He wants to hear from you. The beautiful words of Psalm 91 Whoever dwells lives in as a permanent resident will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. And Psalm 91 tells us so much more. But the time we need to give to our relationship with Him can be stolen simply by the business of life, the seemingly endless demands on our time. The noise of the busy world can drown out His still small voice and time with Him gets put at the back of the queue. I have learnt that a life lived with God present in it, but yet held at a distance can blur the wonderful clarity of the great life Jesus died to give us. All that He died to give us, the promises, the joy can seem far off, and can lead to a path of living a lukewarm, hard Christian life if we think that s all there is. It is in living close to Him we discover the abundant life He died to give us and it is that life we want to bring others in to. We have to take charge of our days before our days take charge of us. I am trying to establish a non-negotiable rhythm in my life where I have deliberate pit stops with God to fuel me for the race but yet still always have Him with me in the driving seat of my life. But it does take effort and overcoming with all the distractions.. but if you draw near And He longs for us to draw near so He can draw near to us. He wants to have a relationship with you for You and for the others you will reach for Him. Oswald Chambers puts it perfectly In Utmost for His Highest he says It is a joy to Jesus when a person takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in Scripture to be a visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ

9 PROMOTION PROMOTION COMETH! COMETH! If you are a Christian going through hard times, please don t murmur, grumble or complain! Simply fix your eyes on the Author and Finisher of your faith, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The ones who murmured and grumbled in the wilderness in the Old Testament, perished in the wilderness. They did not see the Promised Land. They were not aware that God was using the wilderness to train them for the battles ahead which they had to fight in order to take the Promised Land. David had to kill a lion, then a bigger problem in the form of a bear which is bigger than a lion. Then finally a bigger problem in the form of Goliath who was bigger than the bear. The Marines go through the most gruelling training which sets them apart from the ordinary soldier. So, when you are going through hardship, don t blame your wife, husband or friends. But use the situation to draw closer to God. Trust Him, and use that situation to learn the lessons which will be useful for the next level. Like they say, there are different devils for different levels. When trouble comes, it means you are about to go higher. We did not hear about Joseph complaining about what his brothers did to him when he was in Portiphar s house, and in prison. But promotion definitely came to him at the right time. Which was why he told his brothers not to be afraid, because God only sent him ahead in order to save lives. Which is why the Bible says, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. The book of Romans chapter 8 verse 28. So, no matter what you are going through, hang in there because promotion cometh, and the training will make you a great leader. Amen. Pastor Yemi Balogun
