Groups from all over Ohio including Advance Conference and FCC Middletown have gone to help with the demolition and recovery effort. As of right now we are not aware of other churches that have flood damage. If this is not accurate let the Regional Church Office know as soon as possible so that we can spread the word. Also keep in mind that there are parishioners from all the churches in that area that have been affected and that are in need of assistance and prayer.

The Retreat Leader is the nationally renowned Dr. Alvin O. Jackson, Senior Pastor of Park Ave. Christian Church in New York, NY. The Ohio Disciples Women Ministry Ministries Fall Retreat, September 14-16, 2007 at Camp Christian, will feature as Keynoter Dr. Robin Hedgeman, Pastor of Bethany Christian Church in Cleveland. The women have chosen as their theme What is Stealing Your Joy. The Congregational Transformation Ministry Team is sponsoring a leadership event for pastors and lay leaders on October 13, 2007, 9:00 am 4:00 pm hosted by Gender Road Christian Church in Columbus. This event will focus on the research of the recent book Unbinding the Gospel: Real Life Evangelism. There will be resource groups to help pastors and lay leaders lead their congregations in transformation for growth. Also please allow me to remind you that on Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 4:00 pm, Northwest Christian Church in Columbus is hosting the Service of Installation for our new Regional Church ministerial staff, Rev. Stephen Bentley, Rev. Dr. LaTaunya Bynum and Rev. Dr. Brenda Webster. This special gathering of the Regional Church for worship will take place on World Communion Sunday. It is also the Sunday the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) promotes the Reconciliation special day offering. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend this celebration of worship and praise. Please help us to get the word out and encourage members of you congregations to attend. I look forward with great anticipation of what God will do through us as ministers of the Gospel and leaders in Christ s church in the days ahead. May God s Blessings be with you, Bill Regional Pastor and President Christian Church in Ohio

13 FROM ASHES TO LIFE! An Evening Gathering to Celebrate the Journey of the Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church COLUMBUS For the past two years the congregation of the Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has been meeting at a formerly United Methodist Church, after their church burned down destroying many of their traditional religious artifacts. The new building presents many challenges to come up to code, such as a new roof, major work to be done in an upstairs classroom, a new parking lot, gutter repair, sprucing up, etc. Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is located in the heart of downtown Columbus with a mission to encourage fellowship and peace and nurture faithful discipleship among Ethiopian immigrants and the East Columbus community at large. Their new building has meeting rooms and classrooms and a cafeteria in the basement, as well as a fellowship hall making it available, once it is ready, for various initiatives that would reach out to the community. To celebrate their journey thus far and to continue our support towards this congregation, you are invited to join us in an evening gathering and dinner with authentic Ethiopian food, at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 th at St. Dominic s Church Parish Hall, 455 N. 20 th Street, Columbus. During this celebration you will have the opportunity to learn where they have come from and where they hope to be. Cost per person is $20.00, $500 for a table of 10; donations are accepted. Please RSVP to Rebecca Tollefson, , Ext. 13. DIANA BUTLER BASS The Practicing Congregation Imagining a New Old Church DAYTON Based on the Alban Institute book of the same name, Ms. Bass s workshop will explore the changes that have had an impact on mainline churches and the ways in which vital congregations are responding to cultural change as a way of renewal of tradition (the definitions and uses of tradition in congregations), the practices that make for congregational renewal, and the larger setting of Church, cultural, political, and social justice commitments in mainline congregations. This workshop is geared toward mainline Protestant church leaders, both lay and ordained. Sponsor for this workshop is New Source, an ecumenical source of inspiration, ideas, and practical solutions for transforming Christian ministries, rooted in God s word. New Source is not affiliated with any specific denomination and welcomes and nurtures all individuals and groups by meeting their needs in a friendly, non-judgmental way. Co-sponsor for this event is the Ohio Council of Churches, the Ecumenical agency for the Sate of Ohio. This event will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 20 West First Street, Dayton on September 21 and 22, The Doubletree Hotel in downtown Dayton, phone: , is offering overnight rooms at a special rate of $85.00, (Use the code PCC when making your reservation.). Various attendance choices are available during the two-day event: Friday Evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. - Cost $20.00; Saturday 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. - Cost $60.00; both days - $70.00; lunch $ For more information or to register, visit or consultant@nstcm.org, or Phone:
