First, they are a blessing to the local missionaries and local church. Exposure groups are able to provide the labor and funding to accomplish projects that could not be done on the local level. Second, exposure mission trips spiritually impact the lives of the individuals on the trip. In a very real sense, our eyes are opened to see the world the way God sees it. Make no mistake about it, an exposure mission trip can be an incredible spiritual experience. What an exposure mission trip is and is not: A Misson Trip is NOT a glorified vacation a sight seeing tour just a new adventure to undertake a great video shoot for our church A Mission Trip is an opportunity to sacrifice time and money an opportunity to serve others instead of self an opportunity to listen to God s call for your life an opportunity to broaden your view of neighbor an opportunity to join Jesus in making all things new an opportunity to love God and love your neighbor Who can go on an exposure mission trip? In simple terms the answer is almost anyone. Our vision for Northside exposure mission trips is multi generational. We want high school students, college age students, singles, married, retired, and everyone in between to serve along side of each other for the kingdom of God. However, make sure you pay attention to the minimum age for each trip.

What s the information on the trips? This year you have three opportunities to go on an exposure mission trip: Honduras March 7 14 Jim and Teri Riley Cost: $1400 Min.

They each took two internships to Tegucigalpa, Honduras while in college and have since spent their ministry years working in Honduras.

Age: High School Freshmen Max Group Size: 15 people Who are the Rileys? Jim & Teri Riley have been missionaries to Honduras for 18 years. They each took two internships to Tegucigalpa, Honduras while in college and have since spent their ministry years working in Honduras. The Rileys started their ministry on a team of missionaries and their focus was at the University working with college students. Currently, they are the pastors of a church plant in Tegucigalpa. What will we do? Each participant will have the possibility to: Share in devotions and discussion with the mission team Reach out to the community through home visits Participate in hands on ministry projects (construction, painting, cleaning, and more) Worship with national Christians in their churches Share testimonies, teach, or lead in one day VBS Enjoy a time of relaxation, sightseeing and shopping for native cultural items How much will it cost? The total estimated cost of the trip will be $1400 per person. This cost includes your airfare, lodging, food, transportation, project supplies, insurance and support for the missionaries to coordinate all infield activities. Additional costs include the purchase of a passport, immunizations, prophylactic medications, some minimal supplies, money for souvenirs and meals while traveling.

We built the walls for two homes here on our church property in 2010 & 2011. We also built the walls for a home at Maranatha Bible Camp during High School week in 2012.

Piedras Negras is at the northern border of the state of Coahuila, Mexico. It sits across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass, Texas and about 150 miles southwest of San Antonio.

CrossRoads Missions is based in Louisville, KY and we got to know CrossRoads Missions through their program Help Build Hope. We built the walls for two homes here on our church property in 2010 & We also built the walls for a home at Maranatha Bible Camp during High School week in CrossRoads Missions has been working in Piedras Negras, Mexico (on the Texas Border) since 1993 and is actively involved in community development and ministry in Piedras Negras, Mexico. Piedras Negras is at the northern border of the state of Coahuila, Mexico. It sits across the Rio Grande from Eagle Pass, Texas and about 150 miles southwest of San Antonio. Projects have included the construction of two churches, two schools, an orphanage and many single family homes. We work to improve the education, housing, and environment for families by partnering with local ministries, empowering them to be the face of Christ in their communities. What will we do? A typical week includes: Praise/devotions/teaching Since worship is the focus of the week we have times of praise, personal devotions, small groups and teaching to prepare and challenge us throughout the week. Construction projects CrossRoads staff will lead you in a wide variety of construction projects for people of all skill levels. Trained staff and interns will supervise work including concrete, drywall, tile, roofing, painting and other various jobs. Community programs During the week your group will spend time ministering in the community through kids programs, soup kitchens, hospital feeding programs, meals and community events for all ages. Fellowship Your group will spend time in fellowship with other churches from the states and the local church. Evening activities include, a cookout, game nights, and other activities to experience the culture. How much will it cost? The total estimated cost of the trip will be $600 per person. This cost includes your lodging, food, transportation, project supplies, insurance and support for the missionaries to coordinate all infield activities while in Mexico. Additional costs include the purchase of a passport, immunizations, some minimal supplies, money for souvenirs, money for food on the road and a meal at the market.

SOS hosts nearly 2,000 volunteers a year to participate in their work camps. SOS does all of this as a means to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. What will we do?

4 Memphis, TN March 9 14 Service Over Self Memphis (SOS) Cost: $250 Min. Age: College Student Max Group Size: 20 people Who is Service Over Self (SOS Memphis)? As a non profit Christian camp, SOS hosts volunteers throughout the year to work with inner city homeowners to make homes warmer, safer and drier in the name of Christ. SOS hosts nearly 2,000 volunteers a year to participate in their work camps. SOS does all of this as a means to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. What will we do? Volunteers and homeowners will work together to strip and shingle roofs, replace rotten floors and leaky plumbing, repair damaged sheetrock, scrape and paint siding, and repair a host of other needs. Each day will be filled with hard work in the inner city of Memphis. During the evenings there will be a program that is filled with worship and a Christ centered message. We want each participant to hear a call to love and serve our risen Lord, Jesus Christ. Wednesday evening is free for our group to enjoy the city. How much will it cost? The total cost of the trip is $250. This price includes transportation, lodging, supplies for working, all meals (excluding dinner on Wednesday), and programming. Additional cost include two (2) fast food meals on the way to Memphis, one (1) nice dinner meal for Wednesday night in Memphis (probably $10 15), plus any souvenirs or shopping you would want to do.

5 How to raise support? Personally, here are some great ways to raise support: Send letters to friends and family to financially partner with you on this trip. As a note, all donations are tax deductible. Look for work or odd jobs to help save up the money. This could be offering to clean someone s house, mowing yards, babysitting, etc. Instead of Christmas or birthday presents, ask your family to support your trip. If you have a connection with other churches ask the missions team to support you on your trip. I know this is a large amount of money for many people. But through church support and personal work, it can be accomplished. God has the resources, and He is more than able to provide. Take a look at Appendix A on How to Raise Support. How do I sign up? Participants can sign up by filling out an Exposure Mission Trip Application and paying the appropriate deposit by the application deadline for each trip.. As a note, you can begin writing letters of support prior to the deadline to raise money for your deposit. Here are the application deadlines and deposit amounts for each trip: Honduras November 25 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $200 deposit due. (If you need a passport or need to renew a passport, this is also the deadline for you to submit the paperwork to the passport agency.) Mexico November 25 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $100 deposit due. (If you need a passport or need to renew a passport, this is also the deadline for you to submit the paperwork to the passport agency.) Memphis December 8 Exposure Mission Trip Application and $50 deposit due. (You will not need a passport for this trip) What happens after I sign up? Let me start off by saying, Congratulations for signing up! After you have paid your initial deposit and filled out the Application for an Exposure Mission Trip, we will be preparing to go to the field. In order to help us best prepare for an exposure mission trip we will be taking the Kairos course together. These classes will be held at the church on Sundays from 3:00 5:30 pm beginning January 5 and ending on March 2.
