The concert will be followed by a light reception in the sacristy.

4 Fr. Pat s Musings. This Third Sunday of Advent has traditionally been called Gaudete Sunday Gaudete being Latin and meaning to rejoice. But, mostly we simply know this as Pink Candle Sunday. It s funny how we just let ourselves say Pink Candle Sunday. It brings a smile to our faces, and not only ours. Pope Francis, in his wonderful letter Evangelii Gaudium, The Joy of the Gospel, writes: Joy adapts and changes us, but it always endures, even as a flicker of light born of our personal certainty that, when everything else is said and one, we are infinitely loved. And, indeed we are. It s with a full and certain heart that we light this third Advent candle, letting the flicker of its gentle light bring a smile to heaven s loving and expectant face. Religious Education News Dec. 18 at 7pm - Children's Religious Education Christmas Party. We return for classes January 8. Although we take a break from classes our Journey of Faith continues. Please share the Faith Formation opportunities for our youth and children with family, friend, and neighbors, encouraging them to register their child. Adult Faith Sharing: Together a handful of parishioners participated in a study of the Person of Jesus during Advent. This time together caused us to reflect on our relationship with Jesus and renew our total trust in Him. As we approach the new calendar year consider what continuing Adult Religious Education opportunities you would like to see offered in the parish. Pat Music Ministry Did You Know?...The joyful Advent hymn, "People, Look East" was written by London poet/writer Eleanor Farjeon ( ) in Originally titled "Carol of Advent", this hymn is about preparation - each verse of this hymn personifies Love: Guest, Rose, Bird, Star, Lord. Love is on the way, Love is coming, Love is about to arrive; and so the one who will be receiving Love must prepare accordingly. Singing this carol is indeed one way to prepare both our homes and hearts for the coming of the Savior. The tune is a traditional French carol "BESANÇON", which provides a festive setting for this wonderful Advent text. Senior News Tai Chi classes are returning to Action In Maturity, with Eric Johnson from Baltimore Tai Chi. Classes will start in January on Tuesdays at 12:30pm, and the cost is $50 for a 10-week semester. Call AIM at to sign up. Respect for Life * An unexpected pregnancy can bring excitement, joy, and gratitude. It can also bring shame, doubt, and fear. Here are some suggestions if someone you know faces difficulties with an unexpected pregnancy: 1. Respond positively. Avoid shock and alarm, but remain calm and be understanding. Affirm that every person's life, her own and her child's, is precious and beautiful no matter the circumstances. 2. Be honest. She may not be speaking clearly, and you may not know the perfect words to say, but listen with love and let her know you will be there for her. 3. Be available. Ask her how she is feeling and how you can support her. 4. Offer specific help. She may appreciate help finding a doctor, errand-running, house cleaning, or babysitting an older child. 5. Set up a support system. There are websites that allow friends and family to sign up to make meals, send food deliveries, or simply donate money. Pregnancy centers offer loving counseling and provide classes for new mothers. They also can provide baby supplies, and have the resources to connect an impoverished mom with social services, including housing, medical care, education and job training. 6. Even if the pregnancy seems badly timed or irresponsible, reassure her it's OK and good to feel happy (excited, joyous, and grateful) about a new life.
