Tillich pointed out that these three forms of anxiety are not caused by an abnormal state of mind. Rather, they simply arise from human existence. All three are present at any given time, but one tends to dominate. For many, the dominant anxiety is meaninglessness. Put simply: Does my life have a purpose? Dr. Jones is wrestling with this subject in four sermons. A written copy of each sermon may be downloaded from the church website or picked up from the literature tables a few days after it is preached. 3 WORSHIP NOTES The flowers in the Sanctuary today are given to the glory of God and in memory of Tom Daughtry, Jose Varela, Chad Miller, and Mary Colbourn whose lives continue to inspire and challenge us to lavish God's grace on our broken world. Sanctuary Flowers - Consider giving the flowers for Sunday worship to remember or honor loved ones or to celebrate an event, while expressing praise and thanksgiving to God. We have seen the devastation from the Oklahoma tornados, heard the stories and our hearts break. What can we do? Keep the communities in your prayers and make a contribution to help with the recovery. Westminster is collecting financial donations for PC(USA) disaster assistance to support communities in Oklahoma that are recovering from the devastation from the tornados. Please write "Disaster Assistance" on the memo line of your check and mail to the church at 1502 W. 13th Street, Wilmington, DE or place your check in the offering plate on Sunday. CONGREGATIONAL CARE AND PRAYER Please remember in your prayers: Those recently hospitalized: Don Furry, Jerald Lee, Kathryn van Amerongen. Westminster s homebound family who can no longer attend worship with us by sending a card, saying a prayer, or visiting. This week we ask you to remember Mildred Johnston and Edie Lennox, both of Methodist Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike HC, Wilmington, DE Our brothers and sisters in worldwide ministry in Guatemala, Congo, Central Africa, Mozambique, Israel/Palestine, Jordan, and Iraq. Westminster s Covenant Prayer Group prays weekly for specific needs of the faith community. Anyone may submit a prayer request by leaving a confidential message on , ext. 335, or filling out a prayer request card (in the pew pocket) and placing it in the offering plate. Afghanistan often seems far away, and we may neglect to realize that Americans, as well as Afghans and members of coalition forces, continue to die. As Christians, we are called to pray for the spreading of peace and justice and an end to violence. It is not how the world teaches us to eat, drink and be merry. Yet this meal is the ultimate celebration because at this table we receive food for our souls.
