1 366 Holly Springs Church Road Franklin, NC Contact Information GOD S PLAN OF SALVATION GOD loves YOU For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16 You are a sinner. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. -Romans 3:23 The Holy Spirit convicts YOU of sin. And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin...because they believe not on me. -John 16:8-9 Your response is to repent of sin. For I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. -Matthew 9:13 Trust in Christ as Savior. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9, 10, 13 Grow in Christ by following through with baptism and uniting with a church. You will find new Christian friends and grow in your new life in Christ. 366 Holly Spring Church Road Franklin, NC Phone: Fax: Church Web page: http// pastordonnie@hollyspringsbaptist.org pastorbrandon@hollyspringsbaptist.org pastorpete@hollyspringsbaptist.org secretary@hollyspringsbaptist.org Sunday morning live on FM at 10:45 AM Please join us every Sunday for... 2 February 2016 Newsletter Article From Donnie s Desk; February holds a special place in my heart! Twelve years ago the love of my life became my wife on Valentine s Day of 2004! And this year we will celebrate another moment of love when Chelsea and Thomas marry in Florida on February 20th. And, on March 12th Daniel and his fiancé Dani will be married as well! For those of you counting yes, that is four weddings in six months! Back to February for Sharon and me, a month that can often be filled with the winter blues has been transformed into one of our favorite times of the year. And that transformation is due to one thing love. See there is but one force in this universe that is strong enough to overcome anything one force that is resilient enough to face the most difficult trial one force that is more powerful than hate, rage, evil, Satan himself and that is the power of the Love of God! My Bible teaches me that God is love He doesn t just love He IS love! And because of His incredible love for us He sent His Only Begotten Son into this fallen and sin soaked world to rescue us, redeem us, reclaim us, to save us from this fallen world and our own fallen hearts! His love led Him to do the unimaginable His love led Him to make the ultimate sacrifice His love compelled Him to seek and save all who are lost, far off, enslaved to sin and self. As we enter February and celebrate Valentine s Day and the love it represents, I pray that we will begin to catch just a glimpse of a love deeper than any this world has ever seen! I pray that we will be captivated by this love and that our hearts and lives will be transformed by His Love! And I pray that it will begin to show up in every area of our lives and our church! After all, it was Jesus who taught us that we should be known by our love! That love experienced and expressed should lead us to worship with abandon to put away our preferences and focus on His mission and calling to place the needs of others ahead of our own to focus on ways to share the love of God with a lost and dying world to be willing to risk, change, step out in faith as we minister to a changing and hurting world. Love it s a powerful thing! Sharon and I love y all and we are excited about the days ahead! Hang on the best is yet to come! Blessings, Donnie His love is amazing!
3 From Pastor Brandon s Desk; You know that I enjoy much of the music that was popular in the late 70s and early 80s. As I look ahead to Valentine s Day, the lyrics of one particular song from that time come to my mind that will likely be a theme for promoters of candy, cards, jewelry, etc. across America. Written in 1979 by the band Foreigner, and wildly popular in the early eighties is a song entitled I Want to Know what Love is. The song echoes what I believe to be a heart cry for many who don t know Christ I want to know what love is. I want you to show me. In spite of what jewelers tell us it looks like, people are longing to know what true love is, and they re looking for someone to show them. This begs some questions: what does true love look like, and are we (as followers of the author of love) showing a seeking world what true love looks like? Here are some Biblical truths about true love to use as a litmus test as you ask these same questions: 1. Consider Love s Source John pleads in 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. The grammatical structure of the word loves after whoever refers to a complete action that is and is ongoing. You and I cannot create or generate that kind of ongoing, without end love in and of ourselves. There are too many external factors that could hinder it if it were up to us. This kind of love only comes through us as we submit to Christs Lordship in us. As we die to ourselves and allow Him to live through us then He loves through us. apply those three principles to every relationship and situation in heaven and on earth and no matter what comes in life or death, you win! God loves you! He does not love you based on some human metric or performance. He loves you because He is love (1 John 4:8 says God is love ), and to do anything else would be impossible for Him because of who He is. Let this truth compel you to love Him with all you are and love others as you should. 3. Consider Love s Characteristics Perhaps you can quote love s characteristics by heart, but when was the last time they really gripped your heart? Love is patient and kind; it does not envy or boast; it does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice with wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears, believes, hopes and endures all things. Love never ends. Lord, by your example to us and your life through us, help us to know and show what love is. Amen. Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love (1COR. 13:13) 2. Consider Love s Flow Jesus said that all the law and the prophets are summed up in these two things: love God supremely and love others as you do yourself. God loves us, we love Him and we love others (He loves them through us). Think about it
4 Students and Parents - Think about the last big fight you had. Maybe it was with a friend or a coworker who talked badly about you. Or maybe it was when a coach pulled you out of the game for no reason. Maybe for you, the biggest battles happen at home with someone in your family who seems completely unreasonable. No matter where your battlefield is or who you re battling with, there s a good chance it stresses you out. No one likes conflict. Even those of us who enjoy the fight don t really like the feelings of regret that come afterward. But what else can we do? If avoiding doesn t work and exploding doesn t help, do we have any other options? And, is there a way to win the fight without losing a friend? The truth is conflict has been around since well since humans have been around. It affects everyone. Thankfully, the Bible has something helpful to say to all of us when it comes to conflict in our relationships. And while there s no guarantee that we ll never face another battle, we can discover how to make our way through it and have stronger faith and relationships on the other side. On Wednesdays (Large Group) and Sundays (Small Groups) in February we will be diving into a series called BATTLEFIELD. We ll be discussing Conflict and our Christian response to it. Our three bottom lines for Battlefield are: 02/02 Helen Lovell 02/03 Lamar Finley 02/05 Ronald Johnson 02/07 Brandon Breedlove 02/08 Noah Brannon, Patsy Sellers 02/09 Lantie Lathrop, John Royse 02/11 Kelli Hubbs 02/12 Gloria Franklin 02/15 Roy F.
