5 Jubilee Vivid Women January 2018 ENCOURAGING WORDS An article in the National Geographic many years ago showed a very impressive picture of the wings of God. After a big forest fire at the Yellowstone National Park, the forest keepers initiated a hard work early in the morning to determine and value the damage made to the forest by the fire. One of the forest keepers found a big bird that was practically petrified in ashes, posing like a statue at the base of a tree. A little shaken by the terrifying view, he tap the bird with a stick, to his surprise, three little chicks came from under the petrified wings of the dead mother. The tender mother, in order to protect her chicks, she took them to the base of the tree and she put them save under her wings protecting them from the smoke and fire. She could have flown away and saved herself, find her own security but she refused to abandon her babies. When the fire came and burned her body, she remained firm because she had decided already to die, so those who were under her wings could live. Psalm 91:4 says: with His feathers He will cover you and under His wings you will be save. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! Please help us! Vivid Women ministry has many Volunteer opportunities Longing to fill that empty feeling have a need to try something different - want to do something for others? Come be a part of these caring teams. 6 January 2018 Women s Living Free Support Group Were you aware that JCC was part of the LIVING FREE Support Group network? Terry and Sheila McNair direct this small group ministry. They have a team of caring, loving, compassionate leaders that create a safe environment for people to deal with the many difficult issues of life. Coming soon on Wednesday evenings a new group just for women will be meeting. Please check the Sunday bulletin for further details. ANGER: OUR MASTER OR OUR SERVANT (Creative Use of a Powerful Emotion) Anger is a subject the Bible readily addresses. In preparing to manage anger properly, we know that to deny our feelings, repress them, and/or explode and spew them at others can result in a sinful and destructive use of this powerful energy. From damaged relationships to physical illnesses to depression, the effects of misguided anger can be far-reaching and life altering. God s Word provides important guidelines and principles to help us understand this powerful emotion and His purpose and plan for expressing it appropriately. We welcome you to join us for this confidential time of sharing, enlightenment, and healing. Girl s Ministry Looking for a place where your daughter can explore her talents, discover her calling; develop godly friends in a safe environment? If she is not already actively participating in Girl s Ministries at JCC now is the perfect time to begin. Every Wednesday evening from 7:15-8:30 girls come together according to age and spend time learning about God, Christian principles and how they apply to life from wonderful loving, caring women. In addition to weekly meetings extra fun events are scheduled such events may include, Self Defense Training, Firearms Safety, Sleepovers or Retreats. Check out the website at JCCAG.org, select the Ministries tab, then select Girls Ministries for more information. Girls Ministry is directed by Stephanie Villatoro. She has a heart for girls and it is her desire to see that all of our girls develop a strong and lasting relationship with our Heavenly Father. 6
7 January 2018 MISSIONS SPOTLIGHT Our Mission Spotlight will featured a different Missionary or Outreach each quarter. If you have a favorite Missionary that you think should be feature let us know. This quarter we are shining the Spotlight on JCC VIVID Women s Sponsor Child. Meet Mirna Papue Shakaim JCC VIVID Women s Adopted Daughter The ladies of JCC sponsor her through the Assemblies of God organization called Latin America Child Care. Mirna lives in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador Sierra where she attends a school that is so remote it is only accessible by small airplane. Her school is called Timias, which has 35 students and 3 teachers. Mirna lives with her parents and two sisters. They have no basic services. Through the LAAC sponsorship, which is just $32 a month, basic living and school expenses are met for Mirna. Additional funds are sent during the year to provide for a small birthday and Christmas gift. A monthly offering is received at our Fellowship meeting to help underwrite this monthly fee. If you would like to donate to this and are not able to attend the fellowship meetings you may drop your contribution in any offering with a designation of Sponsored Child Women s Ministry Laura Mockabe is the point of contact for our sweet Mirna.
