Learn more about this beautiful sacrament by visiting our website: The Sacrament of Baptism: Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements and make an appointment with Fr. Kenneth Metz to have your child baptized. Ask us about the requirements for Godparents. The Sacrament of Marriage: Getting married? Congratulations! The process of being married in the Catholic Church could take between 6 months to a year to complete. Please contact Ann Cammarata at the parish office as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like to be married at All Souls Catholic Church. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. Did you know that the Sacrament may be repeated if the person becomes sick again? A person should be anointed before surgery when a dangerous illness is the reason for the intervention. Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and Homebound: If you are unable to attend Mass, please call the parish office so we may assist you in having a visit from one of our ministers or one of our priests. Catholic Funeral and Burial: Please call the parish office or have the funeral home director contact us to arrange the Funeral Mass and for more information about burial at All Souls Catholic Cemetery. 2 All Souls Catholic Church 2 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time "When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury." Why were these folks furious? Because they didn't like what Jesus told them. They took offense at his teaching that "no prophet is accepted in his own native place." Jesus was implying that his fellow Nazarenes in the synagogue were blind to who he really was. And this made them mad. They didn't like being told that they were wrong. But Jesus told them anyway. He knew that these people needed to hear the truth, even if it mean that he would be unpopular. In fact, he spoke the truth even at risk of his own life. "They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong." It can be tempting to confuse Jesus' kindness and goodness with passivity, mistakenly imagining him as a person who would never ruffle any feathers because he was so concerned about being "nice." This onesided image of Jesus can lead us to excuse our own passivity about the falsehood and evil that surrounds us. We can justify our silence or inaction by convincing ourselves that we shouldn't upset anyone. But the fact is that Jesus upset people on a regular basis. That wasn't his goal, of course, but he was willing to deal with resistance for the sake of truth and justice. And we should be willing to do the same. Our world is growing more and more hostile to the message of the Gospel. When we simply live our faith authentically, it makes some people angry. But we should not recoil from this reality. Jesus' witness made people furious too. But when they got mad, he didn't cave in. Whether people like it or not, the truth does not change. LPI, Inc. All Souls Parish Office Staff Phone: Fax: Secretary to Fr. All Souls Cemetery Location: Corner of 25th St. & Hardy Ave. Lord Jesus Christ, You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: If you knew the gift of God! You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.

3 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Make All Souls Your Parish Home Today! Often people attend Mass at All Souls for several years, but never register. Registering here is a declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and to make a commitment to the life of All Souls Church. A registered parishioner receives all parish mailings, too. Church law advises that territories or boundaries no longer limit parish registration. All Souls accepts anyone who wants to share in the life of the parish regardless of where they live. In order to register, you need to complete a registration card. Town Hall Meeting During 2015 All Souls held a series of Town Hall Meetings for the purpose of discussing what parishioners see as the future of our community. What began a a broad conversation about our history and mission quickly evolved into 3 topical discussions with attendees encouraged to participate in deeper talks regarding Facilities Utilization, Building Community, and Eliminating Debt. Committee members reported on progress at the last meeting. A facilities plan was unveiled by chair, Frank Frana which drew from successful plans implemented by other churches in the area. Building Community was led by Valarie Casko who reported on plans for community outreach. The lynchpin is financing. Peter Cusick discussed options to eliminate our current debt while building a fund for the future. No further Town Hall Meetings are scheduled at this time as the committee s continue to work behind the scenes on meeting the needs of the parishioners.
