Children are welcomed into one of three age appropriately created classrooms: Infant (Room 103), Toddler (Room102), and Pre-K (Room 101). Children Kindergarten age and older are invited to worship. Each classroom has adult volunteers and a highly qualified FPC staff member with extensive child care experience, background checks and Child and Infant CPR training. Pagers are given to all guardians for immediate access during worship or Sunday School as needed. Please ask an usher for more information. 7 PALESTINIAN MUSIC CONCERT AND RECEPTION: Concert featuring Palestinian student musicians ages and world-renowned musicians Georges Lammam, Ali Amr, Miles Jay, and Tareq Rantisi will be held on Tuesday, September 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Immediately following the concert, enjoy a Palestinian reception with Rev. Dr. Mitri Raheb, Pastor of the Christmas Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, in the Witherspoon Room. KIRKIN O THE TARTANS: The Kirkin' (churching) of the tartans dates back to the period during the English occupation of Scotland (post 1745) when the tartans, kilts and the clans were outlawed and mass deportation was forced, often to the American colonies. Scots secretly carried small patches of tartan plaid to their kirk (church), and when a sympathetic clergyman was presiding, the pieces of the tartans, representing family members past, present and future, in Scotland or scattered throughout the world, were held up for blessing. Today the tradition has evolved into a ceremony using large banners of tartan and includes a blessing of the tartans. This is an exciting way to celebrate the Presbyterian Church's past and look with excitement to her future ministry. First Presbyterian Church will celebrate Kirkin on Sunday, October 19. If you would like to purchase a clan (family) tartan and participate in this year's procession of the tartans, please call the church office ( ). The cost of a tartan flag is $ When you call the church office, you will need to give your clan (family) name. If you do not know the name of your clan, just give your family name and we can research to determine your clan. You will then need to mail your check to the church office (attention: tartan flag). Tartans will need to be purchased by September 29. NEW ORLEANS MISSION TRIP: Won t you consider joining us on a mission trip to New Orleans to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina?
