5 Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, You claim to be the way, the truth and the life. If what You claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who You are. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following You as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding of You that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that You promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through You, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. 6 Worship Notes The Nicene Creed The Nicene Creed is one of eleven historic statements of faith that comprise the Book of Confessions of the Presbyterian Church (USA). The word creed comes from the Latin credo, which means, I believe. The Nicene Creed had its origin in the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325, which was called by the Emperor Constantine to answer a question about the nature of the Son and his relationship to the Father. An addition was made to the creed after a similar question about the nature of the Holy Spirit was settled at the Council of Constantinople in A.D The result of these discussions is a creed that strongly affirms the Trinitarian nature (One God in three Persons) of the God we worship. It uniquely emphasizes that Jesus is divine, that he is co-eternal and consubstantial with the Father, and that he is the creator of the universe.
