Students will develop a deeper understanding of the beliefs, practices, life, and mission of the Christian Church. The Word of God will guide their connection to develop the strong foundation of their faith and connect with other students. Through Confirmation instruction, students participate in Holy Communion, make a confession of faith in Christ, and publicly declare that they adhere to the teachings of the Lutheran Church. Students who complete the requirements are confirmed the fall of their 9th grade year. We also have optional classes for our 5th and 6th graders. Students learn about the Old Testament and New Testament to help prepare them for their future Confirmation Instruction. At the end of a student s 6 th grade year, they are able to participate in a communion preparation class. 12 Next Week s Topic: April 3 "Blessed Are Believers" Lutheran Hour Speaker: Rev. Dr. Gregory Seltz By faith in Jesus, you are blessed-even as your struggles continue. (John 20:19-31) March 27 (Easter Sunday) We hear Jesus words: I am with you. I will comfort you. And when you die, I will take you home to heaven. That message put a smile on the faces of those disciples, and it has put a smile on the faces of many evangelical believers who trust Christ and allow Him to live in their hearts. It is the same smile you and I wear. We will have some frowns, some days of disappointment when we won t know which way to turn. But if we live with Jesus in His Word (that is the secret), the living Christ will speak. Jesus Christ is our comfort and our strength. Rev. Homer Larsen, Christian Crusaders radio program A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life Thank you to those who attended our Family Seder Meal on Palm Sunday. Many are asking for the recipe of the soup that was served. Here it is! Enjoy! Jan s Italian Vegetable Soup 8-10 servings In large stock pot or Dutch oven: 1 # ground beef, browned and drained, set aside 1# mild Italian sausage, removed from skins, browned and drained, set aside Wipe out pot and add 2 T. olive oil and 2 T. butter, heat and sauté the following vegetables: 1 c. chopped onions, for 5 minutes, then add: 1 c. sliced celery & 1 c. sliced carrots Saute these three until carrots just softened. Stir in 2 T. tomato paste and saute 5 minutes. Add: 2 tsp.
