Cookie Walk/Bake Sale and Crafts The big day is coming sooner than you know it! This year s Cookie Walk/Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 8 AM to 4 PM. Along with the newly included Book Sale, we are now going to have donated craft items for sale. Whether you knit, crochet, sew, or just like to craft, we will be happy to accept your donations. So start working on those projects now! (Get together with friends, if you want, and have a little crafting party!) Christmas ornaments are always a hit! Don t forget to bring your favorite Christmas cookies, too. If every parish family could donate one dozen cookies, we would be set. Please also consider helping volunteer the day of the event. Concert after 9 AM Mass on November 16 On Sunday, November 16, the Adult Choir, Handbell Choir and Youth Choir will present a half-hour concert as we mark the Feast of St. Cecilia on November 22. St. Cecilia is the Patroness of Musicians. Each year, the Catholic organization, National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM), encourages member churches around the country, and the world, to present a concert sometime in November marking her feast day. It s a fun way to highlight and encourage the efforts of all involved in the music ministry of the Catholic Church. Please join us as we bring together the talents of all our choirs in this special concert immediately following the 9 AM Mass. 2 Bulletin article deadline: Monday at 10 AM.

3 ALL SOULS DAY NOVEMBER 2, 2014 Greetings from Christian Formation News from our Family Program Several parishioners have asked me: What do the families do during the Family Program? I realized many of you may wonder and I am thrilled to share! After we are all blessed and dismissed from Mass to go forward with the peace of Christ, we do just that and head to our respective classes. First, the children go to class with their Catechists while the adults attend a class with interactive learning and an opportunity to deepen our Catholic faith. After an hour, the children return to their parents and we share 30 minutes with a family program that enriches our lives as both family and community. There is a richness in both learning and shared joy! Please contact me, Mary Sue Reutebuch the Director of Christian Formation, if you have any questions at: (262) or mreutebuch@sjarc.org A few weeks ago we were looking at the Gospel of Luke and discussing forgiveness when one of the parents at our table shared that he was not sure he could be forgiven. We all were a bit surprised as he is such a kind and gentle man and it was hard to imagine anything different. He shared how he had been an alcoholic and had hurt many people through his disease. He was now in recovery but a day did not go by that he did not punish himself. Several at the table got up and hugged this dear man and let him know through their love, that he was as worthy as the rest of us sinners for God s love and forgiveness. Those who were once strangers became a true family in Christ. Weekdays are currently open for Mass intentions, as well as some dates on weekends in Call the Parish Center at to request a date. Start saving your gently used hard cover and paperback books for our Book Sale. NO text books, magazines, or encyclopedias. Drop off your books in the containers available in the gathering area. This past weekend, the Knights of Columbus gave out lifesavers at the four Masses at St. Catherine of Alexandria and St. Joan of Arc. They collected $821 in donations! Thank you to everyone who helped with this important ministry.

The Potter and the Shepherd, John the Baptist and Mary are waiting to help YOU prepare for the Lord s coming in our midst. Next week, Nov 8-9 after all Masses, will be the time for you to sign up for groups. First week sessions will be held during the week of Nov We also are in need of facilitators. Their little son, Calvin, was born blind and deaf and on occasion is admitted to ICU at Children s Hospital. A fundraiser is being held to help with their financial challenges. They are in need of gift baskets, gift cards, etc. and donations from businesses for a silent auction being put together for Calvin. 5 ALL SOULS DAY NOVEMBER 2, 2014 ST. VINCENT DE PAUL THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE It is that time of year again when we think of those who don t have as much as we may have this Thanksgiving. We would like to see that ALL enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving. So please, bring any food item that you would purchase for your own Thanksgiving table this year or any non-perishable food items, and any extra donations of laundry detergent, soap, shampoo and toilet paper which are hard to come by for some at times. We would also welcome monetary gifts so meats, milk and desserts of choice may be purchased. St. Catherine s parishioners have always been so caring and generous, as we know you will again be this year. St. Catherine s St. Vincent de Paul Conference thanks you for all of your kindness and generosity of the past and, in advance, for this upcoming year. Please place your donations in the containers located in the gathering area November 15 and 16 or November 22 and 23. If you know of any family that may be struggling this year, please let us know so we may call them to see if we may be of assistance. Grieving Through the Holidays When a special person in our life has died, the annual celebrations of Thanksgiving and Christmas can be very difficult. All who are grieving the loss of a loved one are invited to attend a presentation on Grieving Through the Holidays. The presenter, Ellen Heitman, is the Pastoral Associate at St. Joan of Arc Parish. Ellen s background includes being a Registered Nurse, a board certified Chaplain and a Director of Christian Formation. She has extensive grief work experience in parish and various health care settings. The session will provide an opportunity to discuss the grieving process, the importance of self-care as one grieves, the role faith plays in the healing process and practical ideas to manage the holiday season. 7 ALL SOULS DAY NOVEMBER 2, 2014 DESPeRATELY SEEKING ADULT help!!! Are you Baptized? Are you Confirmed in the faith? Then we need your help!!! As part of their Christian Formation, students in 7th grade through 11th grade will be attending retreats at the former Tyme Out Center, now called ISPIRIO, right in our own backyard in Stonebank, WI. In order for these retreats to take place we MUST have adult leaders who are willing to spend this time with them. Many people say to me the youth are the future of the Church, but it is up to the adults of the church to assist them in their formation and help them achieve their future in the Church! The 11th grade Confirmation Retreat dates is a full weekend, from Friday evening beginning at 7PM to Sunday morning, November 21-23, 9th grade and 10th grade retreats are each an overnight experience beginning Friday evening at 7PM until Saturday evening, concluding at St. Catherine s at the 5PM Mass. The 9th grade retreat is taking place January 23-24, and 10th grade retreat is February The 7th and 8th graders will be on retreat together for one day (not overnight), starting with the 9AM Mass on November 23. You will need to take the Safeguarding Class, which is FREE, and is only 1 evening for 3 hours. 9 ALL SOULS DAY NOVEMBER 2, 2014 Family Promise of Western Waukesha County - It s Time to Celebrate! St. Joan of Arc and St. Catherine of Alexandria are now a part of Family Promise of Western Waukesha County and its ministry for homeless families in our community. Thank you to all parish members who expressed such interest in this ministry after hearing about it after mass in June. Our parishes will be Family Promise Support Congregations. What does that mean? Volunteers from our Parish Cluster will be working with members of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Delafield as they host homeless families for a week four times a year. As support congregations, we will be providing meals, evening companionship and more. Our first opportunity to be a Support Congregation to Christ the King Lutheran will be the week of January 4, Everyone volunteering in this way must attend a short orientation. Our orientation will be on November 16 at Christ the King from 6:00 8:00 pm. In two hours you will learn important information about your volunteer assignment.
