1 Resurrection Life March 2015 On Good Friday we will stand at the foot of the cross and behold the ultimate sacrifice being made by the Son of God for the sins of the world. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one s life for one s friends. John 15:13 NIV. There on the cross our Lord is taking our place so that we do not have to face the wages of sin which is death, but that we can experience and enjoy the gift of God which is life everlasting. He suffered and died so that we might life. We the people of God began our Lenten journey this year on February 18 with our Ash Wednesday observances. As we continue in this season we are getting ready embrace once again the Passion of our Lord Jesus. During Holy week we will be faced with the significant moments in the Passion of our Lord. We begin this special week on Palm Sunday and conclude it with the Pascal Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Vigil of Easter). On Palm Sunday (Sunday, March 29) we will join our Lord as he makes his Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem as He begins the last phase of His journey to the cross. On this Sunday, palm branches are blessed and distributed to all who gather for worship. Then, the worshippers wave these palm branches in procession symbolizing our Lord s willingness to engage the battle against sin and death as he journeys on obediently to the cross. The palms symbolize the victory to be won on our behalf. On Holy Thursday, we will relive the events of the night in which he was betrayed. There, as he shared the Passover meal with his disciples, he transformed that meal into something new. He transformed a meal which symbolized the liberation of the people of God from slavery in Egypt to a wonderful sacrament of His Body and His Blood which liberates His people from sin and death and gives then life and salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. On the Vigil of Easter we will renew our baptismal covenant. In the early church the catechumens (those being prepared for baptism) were baptized on the Vigil of Easter in anticipation of receiving His body and His blood for the first time on the morn of the Resurrection. So after watching Him die on Good Friday, we keep vigil until we are able to break out with our Alleluias and our joyful acclamation that He is Risen. During that vigil, we renew our baptismal covenant in which we remember the words of Holy Scripture which says, We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6.4 NIV So, brothers and sisters in Christ, Holy week is a very solemn and holy time for us as the people of God. The events of this week brings us face to face with the price that God paid for our sins and reassures us that even in the midst of the very troubling times in which we live, our Salvation is secure in and through Christ our Lord. May God give us the grace that we may be able to pause from our normal routine to embrace the holiness and solemnity of this very significant time in the Christian calendar. God bless you, Pastor James T. Gajadhar (See Page 4 for Lenten Schedule) 1

2 Ladies Guild March 2015 Who Do You Trust? (Eve s Story: Genesis 2:18 3:24) He [the serpent] said to the woman, Did God actually say, You shall not eat of any tree in the garden? (Genesis 3:1b) Sell now! Top prices for gold! Did your dad really say you had to be home by midnight? Lose 20 pounds in 20 days or your money back! Who can you trust? It began in the Garden of Eden when Satan talked to Eve and she listened. Adam and Eve, the perfect human beings God created, chose Satan s words over God s words. When they listened to Satan, they lost sight of God. Sin followed sin; and ever since that fateful day, sin has been part of our world. Temptations of all shapes and sizes surround us, but we can look to the Lord for truth and power. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7a). Only He gives us strength to defy Satan and refute his lies. Dear Father in heaven, temptations come at us from every direction. Give us strength and courage to reject Satan. Help us choose what is good and right in Your sight. In Jesus name. Amen. Our next meeting will be on Tues. March 7:00pm Remember your Mite Boxes... CHURCH STAFF: Pastor: Rev. James T. 9 The Author is not known. It was found in the billfold of Coach Paul Bear Bryant, Alabama, after he died in Article submitted by Deanna Bardolf THE MAGIC BANK ACCOUNT Imagine that you had won the following *PRIZE* in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use. However, this prize has rules. The set of rules: 1. Everything that you didn't spend during each day would be taken away from you. 2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account. 3. You may only spend it. 4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400 for that day. 5. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, "Game Over!". It can close the account and you will not receive a new one. What would you personally do? You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself, right? You would try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished in the morning, right? ACTUALLY, This GAME is REAL... Shocked??? Each of us is already a winner of this *PRIZE* We just can't seem to see it. The PRIZE is *TIME* After you find all the hidden words, the left over letters spell out a Bible verse reading from the top left to the bottom right. 1. Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life. 2. And when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is Not credited to us. 3. What we haven't used up that day is forever lost. 4. Yesterday is forever gone. 5. Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time WITHOUT WARNING... SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds? Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars. Think about it and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think. So take care of yourself, be happy, love deeply and enjoy life! Here's wishing you a wonderful and beautiful day. Start "spending"... "DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT GROWING OLD...!" 9
