3 THE ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FAMILY NOTES, XI Sunday in Ordinary Time, June 17, 2018 A Talk at Holy Family School s Closing June 13, 2018 Dear Girls and Boys, peace! There is an old and lovely Catholic prayer to Saint Anthony, whose feast is today, Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony please come around, something is lost and needs to be found. Very often God grants that lost stuff is found. So, just as we enlist our friends to help us look for something lost and Saint Anthony to pray, very often we find the joy of answered prayer. But not always. Something is lost. Gone. Our school. Perhaps something else too: our trust. That s understandable. Just don t stop trusting in God. Don t do what Satan wants. Never quit on Jesus. If anything, now, trust Him even more. Anthony is always pictured holding the child Jesus in his arms. And often Jesus is shown turning His whole attention to Saint Anthony. As Holy Family School closes Jesus is definitely turning His whole attention to you. Turn to Him. Go to Jesus. Talk to Him about your worries, sadness, your disappointments and maybe your anger. If you are angry because you feel that all this is unjust, St. Paul has some good advice: Be angry but do not sin. (Ephesians 4:26). An honest, pure heart is always right with God. (Matthew 5:8) Prayer to Saint Anthony is fine; sometimes. Prayer to the Lord is needed all the time; and especially now. So on this last day, let us turn to prayer. CONCLUDING PRAYER Lord Jesus, we come to You struggling with a great hardship, the closing of our school. Breathe your Holy Spirit into our hearts. Bind up our wounds. Your greatest gift to us is love. Take any malice from our thoughts. Give us the capacity to see others as You do. Grace us to pray for all those with whom we sincerely disagree. In the new school year help us to make new friends and to keep old ones. Lord, You were crucified. Help us to bear our cross with courage and hope. Forgive us our sins as we forgive others. Lord, bless our students. Bless their parents and families. Reward our teachers. Give serenity to Mrs. Cahalane for a job well done. Empower us to live out our faith as Catholics. May Your divine assistance remain always with us. Let us pray to Mary. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. To become a Al-Anon Member Involved in Alateen Service (AMIAS), and are CORI checked. We invite you to become familiar with Alateen by purchasing some of the books and booklets that have been written by Alateen members.
