For children 5 yrs old or younger who are not able to sit through the church service, there is a nursery downstairs, or a glassedin room behind the sanctuary where you may sit with your baby and still follow the service. Her funeral was held on Thursday, August 6 th here at the church. Anna is the mother to Kathy Rempel, and sister to Justina Bartel and Agnes Sawatzky. May the comforting love of Christ offer healing and peace to the family and loved ones through this time of loss.

2 Warm congratulations are extended to newlyweds Michael Rekrut & Lydia Klaassen who were married here in our church yesterday! We pray that God will continue to bless you both as you embark upon this exciting new stage of life together. Scott and Evelyn Finlay are thrilled to announce the arrival of their first grandchild. Jack William Daniel born to Nathan and Kendra Finlay on July 8. First nephew for Tess, Sydnay and Elijah, and fifth greatgrandchild for Irma Epp. Karl and Linda Friesen are very happy to announce the engagement of their son, Matthew Friesen, to Olivia Fabiani. Olivia is the daughter of Tom and Sarah Fabiani of Niagara-on-the-Lake. A wedding is planned for the Fall of Rudy and Sharon Dirks announce with joy and gratitude to God, the birth of another grandchild. Noelle Denise Magdalene McDonald was born to Keith and Shawna in New Zealand on July 30 th. Her cousins Owen and Malakai are looking forward to playing with her when the family is finally all together on one continent in 2017!! Please note that the main church stairwell (Virgil side), office entranceway, and women s washroom will be completely inaccessible between Mon. Aug. 10 th Wed. Aug. 12 th. Should you require access to the church during this time, please use the entrance on the NOTL side of the building and that stairwell (must be prearranged with the office if outside of regular office hours). Nobody is permitted to walk on the floor surfaces in these areas over these three days for any reason. Attention Young Adults!! Our 3rd annual YA Potluck BBQ is on August 16 th after church at the Willms' house. Bring $2/person (meat/veggie burgers and hot dogs will be provided), a side dish/dessert, and your swimsuits if you want to cool off in the pool! Please RSVP to Jolien or on the Facebook event. Thank-you so much to all of the wonderful folks who help out at the Welcome Centre! These people offer their bright smiles and cheerful dispositions each Sunday morning to truly make Niagara UM as welcoming as possible for newcomers and long-term members alike. Thanks for being point people on Sunday mornings to help convey information from the office and the Pastoral Team and for passing along any congregational issues or questions that arise on a Sunday. As we approach the end of the current Welcome Centre Volunteer schedule, we highlight this as an opportunity for others to try out this role. We have a great team already that we d love to expand to include some new faces! Please contact April in the church office if you d like to volunteer or if you have any questions about the role. Do you play a musical instrument? Lolita Hale is coordinating an instrumental ensemble that will play in church on Sunday, August 30 th. All ages and all musical levels are welcome! Please Lolita as soon as possibleand let her know that you are interested. Music needs to be arranged accordingly to accommodate the instrument and practices arranged. Let's make a joyful noise to the Lord! We are proceeding with the elevator retrofit and should be finished by the end of summer. We have been granted an extension to our deadline and therefore the elevator is still operational. Capital fund donations to date are $3,400, but we still need around $11,500 for the elevator project. Please help support this, by marking your envelopes elevator or capital fund.

3 POST-SECONDARY STUDENTS: The Abner Martin Music Scholarship ($5,000 value last year) is awarded annually by Menno Singers to one student who: 1) will be enrolled in a full-time music major or minor program at the undergraduate or graduate level in ; 2) is affiliated with an MCEC congregation; and 3) has demonstrated involvement and proficiency in musical activities in church and community. But you seldom hear about wisdom. And yet without wisdom the skill of understanding how to live increases in the rest of our capabilities just bring us into more trouble. Proverbs is part of the wisdom literature of the Bible. In this book, the famously wise king Solomon teaches wisdom through pithy, concise sayings, and wise teachings which transcend ages and cultures. In this sermon series we will explore Solomon and his teachings for the purpose of learning to live our own lives in the kind of wisdom that brings us a full life, no matter what the circumstances. August 30 th - Lolita Hale will be leading the music with a variety of musical talents from within the congregation.
