2 Last Year s Success Here are some the Statistics of last year s CMA here at St. Alphonsus. Of the ten parishes who had the most similar goals to ours, we took fourth place, reaching 104% of our goal. The average participation rate throughout the diocese was 28% of parishioners while our parish topped that with 37% of our parishioners participating in the CMA. 405 of our parish households made an average contribution of $153. This Year s Success This year, St. Alphonsus is responsible to contribute $58,749 which is slightly less than last year s goal of $59,219. Every Parish s goal increased by 3%, so why did ours decrease? Ours decreased because our weekly mass attendance and our weekly collections both decreased. St. Alphonsus needs only a modest increase in your gift this year to make up that difference: the average gift needs to be $160 per household. Remember, what we call our goal is really our responsibility. Our contributions contribute to ministries all over the diocese that are done in our name. Ministries that are carried out by other members of the same local church to which we belong, the Diocese of Rochester. Steps To Success Pray. Sincerely pray about what your household is able to sacrifice to make your contribution as significant as possible. Make your gift to the CMA part of your budget along with your weekly contributions to the parish and your contributions to other ministries and charities Talk about your gift with your whole household, especially with your children. Help them realize the importance of their participation in the life of the parish and diocese. Make a pledge over several months. Try to avoid a one off gift that simply gets the CMA out of the way. Make a thoughtful and intentional pledge spread out over several months. A quick illustration: if you can easily afford a $25 gift now, that same gift repeated for the months of October through next May would make a gift of $200. Pledged gifts are a significant reason that we make our goal each year. Thank You!

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven." GROWING IN WITNESS SERVING IN LOVE NOTICE: The October 27 Pastoral Care Meeting will now occur on Wednesday, October 26 at 6:30 pm. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Who should attend an RCIA Session? Someone who is wondering if they are being called to be part of our Roman Catholic faith community. Someone who has been baptized but not received their first communion or been confirmed because of circumstances in their life. If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming Catholic or receiving Sacraments they may have missed as a child, it is not too late to join the Rite of Christian Initiation classes. Instruction will be held at St. Mary's parish hall at 7 PM on Thursday nights. Classes run through the Easter Vigil when new members will be welcomed into the Church. Fall is here, children are back in school and your Food Pantry is in need! Without school to help feed children, our supplies have rapidly depleted. With the holidays right around the corner, we need donations! Our clients need items like canned meals (e.g. Spaghettios, Beef Stew, etc.), tuna fish, soup, cereals, baked beans, cheese snacks, juice boxes, and fruit cups to name a few. You can also use the list posted on the church bulletin boards. You can leave donations in the church or at the Food Pantry. We are open Mon-Sat, 9am to 11:30am. We can also accept frozen food or refrigerated foods. We also accept monetary donations. Thank you for all you do for the less fortunate in our community.
