1 The Children s Inn at NIH Project Leader: Barbara Hunter Thoughtful Treasures for Young Patients at the National Institutes of Health Number of Volunteers Needed: 20 Kids ages 2-8 (accompanied by Parent) Location: Onsite at CPBC 8818 Piney Branch Rd, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: Parents and tots will design thoughtful treasures - fun and safe crafted gifts for young patients residing at the Children s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Generation Hope Project Leader: Deaconess Claudette Knight Number of Volunteers Needed: 25 Location: Onsite at CPBC, 8818 Piney Branch, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: CPBC women volunteers will meet with the staff of Generation Hope and a current scholar a young mother presently in the process of completing her college education. Volunteers will then assemble gift bags and notes for teen parents who are starting college in 2015! Longbranch Park & Stream Cleanup Project Leader: Adeoye Adewole Number of Volunteers Needed: 20 Location: 8700 Piney Branch Rd, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: The Montgomery County Parks will provide us with gloves and trash bags, a special volunteer permit letter and safety guidelines to pick-up trash and litter across the length and breadth of the park. Clean-up materials will be made available a week before the service. After the service cleanup, park staff and park police will be notified to haul away the trash.

2 Woodside Center Project Leaders: Carletta Lundy, Lola Olakanye, and Linda Slaughter Number of Volunteers Needed: 30 Location: nd Avenue, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: The CPBC Worship (Dance and Choir) Ministry will minister to the residents of Woodside. Additional CPBC members are needed to join this service activity to visit with patients especially those who may be immobile and physically unable to attend the service. A warm and friendly visit of fellowship, dialogue and encouragement will brighten their day! Calvary Women s Services Lunch and Fellowship Number of Volunteers Needed: 12 Location: 1217 Good Hope Rd SE, DC Project Leader: Kathy Williams Project Description: Volunteers from CPBC will serve lunch to the women of Calvary. Volunteers are invited to sit, eat, fellowship with and encourage these women with the truth of Christ. Martha s Table Project Leaders: Lorenzo and Arlette McGhie Number of Volunteers Needed: 12 Location: th St NW, DC Project Description: Day of Service volunteers will do food prep in support of Martha s Table s mobile soup kitchen program a 7 days a week, 365 days a year program that serves 65 gallons of homemade soup, sandwiches, desserts, fresh fruit and refreshments to families in poverty.

3 Carroll House Men s Shelter Project Leader: Harry Guy Brunch and Fellowship Number of Volunteers Needed: 15 Location: 9625 Dewitt Drive, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: Carroll House was thrilled to hear that men from CPBC would be willing to fellowship with their residents. CPBC volunteers will share a brunch and fellowship with the men at Carroll House. Praise God for this wonderful opportunity to connect meaningfully with another man in our community! Althea Woodland Nursing Home Project Leader: Lillie Shepherd Number of Volunteers Needed: 15 Location: 1000 Daleview Drive, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: Members of the CPBC Seniors Ministry will minister to the seniors of Althea Woodland on Sunday, September 6th. CPBC Seniors will fellowship with residents and share testimonies of God s goodness and power to save! A Wider Circle Project Leader: Ayo Olakanye Number of Volunteers Needed: 25 Location: 9159-C Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD Project Description: Volunteers will sort through and organize the hundreds of donations that A Wider Circle receives daily for families transitioning out of shelters and transitional housing. Your help translates into one more family having the opportunity to create stability and independence!

4 Good News Door-to-Door/Street Evangelism Num- Project Leader: Sasha McGee ber of Volunteers Needed: 20 Location: CPBC Surrounding Neighborhood Project Description: CPBC has been evangelizing in Southeast Washington DC this summer. We partnered with the Anacostia River Church to share the Good News of Christ with families in DC. We are excited to serve as Christ s Ambassadors this fall in our very own community (2 Corinthians 5:20). Volunteers will have a brief time of study and prayer before heading out to knock on doors and engage neighbors in gospel conversations. Pastor Jose Amaya and Cristo Vive to partner in this important effort. Day of Service Home Team Project Leader: Donna Sharp Two Groups Needed - Number of Volunteers : 25 total Food Prep & Set-up Team Enthusiastic men and women volunteers are needed to help with food prep and room setup on Saturday, September 5 from 11AM-2PM Breakfast & Clean-Up Team Men and women are needed to help with serving the Day of Service breakfast and cleanup. The day of giving cannot succeed without the important service of both of these teams.

5 Community Prayer Walk Number of Volunteers Needed: 20 Location: CPBC Surrounding Neighborhood Project Leader: Linda Kgasi Project Description: Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up (Luke 18:1)! The Lord is able to do all things but fail and He hears the prayers of His own. So let us pray for our community! Twenty Day of Service volunteers will walk the neighborhood, stopping at key predetermined sites to offer prayers based on the needs and concerns of our community.
