Current news from across the KS-NE Conference View this in your browser The Cutting Edge June 2, 2017 Here's what's happening across our Conference, at least what I've heard about. Feel free to share this with anyone! You can watch Camp Meeting tonight and tomorrow by clicking here!
"It was a high Sabbath when we had two baptisms at Salina," says Chris Peters. "Azariah and Jeremiah Easey made their stand for Jesus and were baptized by Pastor Jonathan Burt. It was a glorious day," says Chris. Pastor Jorge Zelaya let me know, "We just finished another week long evangelistic series at the Grand Island Hispanic Church. A family of four joined our church through baptism." Watch a video review of the week byclicking here.
"Jacob Valenciacommitted his life to Jesus through baptism last at the Omaha Memorial Church," shares Pastor Delmar Austin. "Jacob and I studied the Bible for about three months together before his baptism," says Pastor Austin. "I'm here in Mongolia with a It Is Written for some medical and public evangelism," shares Pastor Greg Bullion (Omaha Memorial). "Over 100 are in the group and we'll are conducting free clinics in five areas around Ulaanbaatar. Pastor Bradshaw will have public meetings starting Sunday. Please keep these events in prayer as we seek to spread the gospel to the farthest reaches of the world," asks Pastor Greg.
"Last weekend I attended the Fremont church and presented a plaque to Pastor Adrian Atkinson as he retires from 35 years of ministry," says Virgil Covel (Ministerial Director). "Adrian has pastored in the same district in Nebraska for 24 years. He is a much loved pastor and will be deeply missed. Adrian and his wife, Linda, will be taking time to travel and enjoy retirement before settling back down in their home in Schuyler, NE," says Virgil.
It's been SO busy and SO GREAT with the Youth at camp meeting that this is only picture I've taken so far," says Pastor Mic Henton. "The Broken Arrow Ranch Summer Ministry Staff has arrived!!" says Tim Floyd (Youth/Young Adult Leader). "We have spent this week scrubbing, sweeping, sorting and rearranging all of the things related to our program this summer. This is a fantastic group of young adult leaders, I am excited to see what God does through them this summer. We are all looking forward to getting started!" says Pastor Tim. Sedan Church member Carlotta Munson wrote me. "You may have heard of the legendary mission experiences of Norman and Alma Wiles 100 years ago in the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu). They are my relatives. Their story is now published in a new book by Pacific Press. It is called MAN-EATERS OF MALEKULA by Roy Brandstater. It includes the dairies of Alma Wiles as well as research of the cannibal island before and after their mission service. This story is especially meaningful to several families in Kansas and Oklahoma who are related to Alma Butz Wiles," says Carlotta. Click here.
"My Bazine church members joined with their community on Memorial Day in honoring fallen soldiers," says Pastor Regan Scherencel. "I was invited to be the speaker for the event, which included calling roll for each soldier from Bazine who had been lost in battle, a 21-gun salute, presentation of the flag, and presenting a hand-made quilt to the oldest veteran in attendance," says Pastor Regan. "Last Sabbath the New Haven Swahili group launched their first meeting to reach out to middle school girls and their families," says Pastor Ruth Rivera. "The group gathered girls from years old for a time of connection and mentorship. It was great to see the girls having open and honest conversations around the tables. The rotation tables encouraged them on topics such as: purity, having goals and aspirations, preparation of a personal budget, health and fitness, emotional wellbeing, and having a relationship with Jesus. Dr. Janet Taurus had a valuable set of
professionals from our church and the community working together to share these topics and create new connections among the church and our community friends. We look forward to future meetings that will keep inspiring values and a close relationship with Jesus in these young lives," says Pastor Ruth. Fremont Church member Lynn Blomquist writes, "WOW! The day we've been dreading finally arrived. We were kind of hoping it wouldn't happen! After 24 years as our Pastor (Adrian Atkins) is retiring and we are going to miss him like crazy! But because he was a great teacher, we are able to move forward with confidence, because we know that God is in control. Retirement? Sure..but endings just leave room for new beginnings. Enjoy every minute Pastor, Linda and Leah," says Lynn.

"Thank you so much for bringing her!" "Such great ideas! We just need more time so she can share more!" "The camp meeting seminar times really flew as Francini Reis, North American Division Children's Ministries Presenter shared a continuous stream of ideas for "Interactive Storytelling" "Teaching Children to Pray" "Children's Church" "Memorizing Without Tears" "Cactusville VBX Training & Followup Programs." Attendees were sent home with many wonderful ideas and free resources for Children's Ministries in their home churches," says Sue Carlson (Children's Ministries Director).
Camp Meeting 2017 is in full swing and it's going so well. Everyone seems so happy and grateful for the blessings being received. The kids programs are well run, the preaching has been in inspiring and the music has been amazing. Even the weather has been great! Here are some photos to enjoy if you're not able to be here.

Ty Gibson is the featured speaker this evening and tomorrow. Ty has a marvelous ability to bring the gospel to life. He will be preaching at 7:30 this evening, Tomorrow morning at 11:00 and at 7:30 in the evening. If you can't attend you can view by clicking here. Julian Archer has shared practical and inspiring testimony and scriptural principles Wednesday and Thursday evenings about how to thrive as a Christian in a prosperous country. If you'd like to sign up for his free newsletter, The Bruised Camel, click here. "Kansas City church members are enjoying learning how to follow-up Bible study requests and personally give Bible studies!" reports Bible Worker Karen Matambo. "Janice shared how she's grateful for the personal training. She's working hard to learn what to say at the door. Melanie who comes weekly and attended her first in-home Bible
study last week said with excitement, 'Karen, so this is what you do every day? I was always scared to try it, but I had so much fun!' "It is an understatement to say the Hansen family at Chapel Oaks support Pathfinders they have become a three generation family of Master Guides," shares Reba Lucky. "Last Sabbath, surrounded by other Master Guides in the church, Mike and Fran Hansen and their son Eric, had the privilege of inducting their other son, Jason and their grandson Greg (Eric s son) into the ranks of Master Guide. Jason is the director of the KC Explorers Pathfinder Club. Christopher Hayward was also inducted to Master Guide status. Greg just graduated from Midland Adventist Academy and Christopher will continue his education at MAA in the fall," says Reba.

"Wow! I just got to hear the last seminar presentation and I really wished I'd come earlier...just what I needed to hear!" "The best I've heard! Can we get them to come back?" "Those attending the camp meeting "Connect to Live!" marriage seminars by Dr. Cesar & Carolann DeLeon made comments like these about their experience in their seminars. People were impressed about the insights they shared and so blessed by their honesty and vulnerability. What a privilege it was to have them come and share their insights," says Sue Carlson (Family Ministries Director).
It was Pathfinder Sabbath and investiture last Sabbath at Salina," reports Chris Peters. "The kids worked on a lot of honors this year. We added a few Adventurers into Pathfinders," says Chris.
Tomorrow's offering is for your local Church Budget. This regular offering is critical to the health and growth of your church. "The story of Heinrich Jung-Stilling, a German ophthalmologist, inspires believers to trust in God completely. He wanted to serve others and prayed that God would lead him into a service profession." Read more... The Conference Executive Committee will be meeting in Lincoln this Sunday, June 4, for our regular summer meeting. Here's what some from the office are up to this weekend: Everyone is in Lincoln fully engaged in the responsibilities of Camp Meeting. We will be back in the office on Tuesday. I will be preaching for the 8:45 a.m. service at Camp Meeting tomorrow. **If you know something that you think would be of interest to other Kansas-Nebraska Adventists, please let me know. I am trying to keep everyone on the "cutting edge" by sending this out each Friday. Have a wonderful Sabbath!
