1 Elementary In the Beginning Week 2 May 20/21, 2017 Need to Know We are God s Most Amazing Creation! Staging: o Generic CF Kids Backdrop o Fun lighting o Props Cloud Scoop The host will pick two contestants. The contestants will be blindfolded. When the timer starts, they must use a giant spoon (and ONLY the spoon) to try to scoop up some clouds, aka cotton balls, to the other bowl. Whoever has the most clouds in their bowl after 60 seconds will be the winner! (If a player moves all of the cotton balls before time runs out, he/she is the winner.) The winner will receive an ocean in a bottle as a prize. Materials Needed: o 2 Large Bags of Cotton Balls o 4 Large Bowls o 2 Big Spoons (preferably soup spoons) o 2 Handkerchiefs o Ocean in a bottle (1 per service; will be provided)

Today we are going to start off by worshipping God for this day, so let s stand and worship Him! Beginning_Worship Beginning_Your Love Awakens Me_Worship Video Beginning_Lion and the Lamb_Worship Video Great time of worship! Have you ever taken some time to look at the world around you? The stars at night? The bees as the land on a flower to snatch some pollen? Snake skin under a microscope? Have you wondered how the stars stay up there, or how the bee knows where to get honey, or who gives the snake new skin cells? Have you ever wondered where it all came from? Well, good news. You came to the right place at the right time, because we are in the series In the Beginning where we are celebrating that every bit of this world is God s creation. Now, I know most of you have heard the story of creation before, but we are going to take a closer look at how and why God created us. Let s open up in prayer! Lead kids in prayer For those of you who weren t here two weeks ago, we looked at the first 5 days of creation. Something really awesome that God created is space! Outer space so huge and still expanding, and there are still so many mysteries about it. Check out this view from space! Beginning_Space_Video 2 Wow. That just blows my mind. But it doesn t blow God s mind! God knows EVERY single thing there is to know about space, because He created it. He knows how many stars are in the sky and calls them each by name! What is your favorite part of God s creation? (Wait for response) There can t be a wrong answer for that question. God created

3 some pretty amazing things like clouds, for example. And that brings us to one of our games today! That s right, I said game! I am looking for one boy and one girl to play this game. (Choose kids) Beginning_Game Our game is called Cloud Scoop. Our contestants today will be blindfolded. Then, they must then use this giant spoon and only the spoon to scoop up some clouds, aka cotton balls, from one bowl to the other bowl. Whoever has the most clouds in their second bowl after 60 seconds will be the winner! Of course, if one of our contestants can move all of their cotton balls before time runs out, he/she will win. Audience, you have a part in this too! Pick a contestant and root for them as they scoop up the clouds! Let s play! Beginning_Game Time_Bumper Beginning_60 Sec Timer_Video That was so much fun. Thanks for cheering them on. Our winner is (count cotton balls and announce winner)! You receive a small part of God s creation, an ocean in a bottle! So far in our Bible Story, we ve learned that God created the sun, the moon, the stars, land, the seas, and the birds in the sky, and the creatures of the sea. We re going to watch the first 5 days again, but now see what God created on day 6. Check it out. Beginning_Lesson Beginning_Wk 2_Bible Video What did God create on day 6? (Land animals and people) God created Adam and Eve and cared for them deeply. God created you, too. He loves you, and He thinks about you! That leads us to our Need to Know which is Beginning_Wk 2_Need to Know_Slide Say it with me We are God s Most Amazing Creation! God created you to worship Him. He created you to do good works! He created everyone with different talents! Painters would spend countless hours on their paintings and at the end call it a masterpiece. And you are God s masterpiece! Sadly, sin ruined the masterpiece, but Jesus sacrifice for us on the cross can make us into a masterpiece again.

4 How? When we admit that we re sinners, believe in Jesus sacrifice and choose to follow Him, God makes into new creations! During this series we re checking in with a Pastor named Steve who has this YouTube page called Mad Art Skillz. He has a little more to tell us about being God s masterpiece! Beginning_Wk 2_Art Skillz Video God forms and shapes us to do incredible things! Part of those incredible things is caring for others! And we can do that when we participate in our Family Mission! Beginning_Announcements Beginning_May Family Mission_Slide For this month's Family Mission, let's PRAY UP! Who are we praying for? Let's pray for our teachers, nurses, and first responders. This is a great way to show your appreciation for everything they do by praying for them! Here are some things to pray for: Protection over them as they are at work Give them wisdom Pray for their families Thank God for all that they do 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" Once you ve completed the Family Mission, You can let one of the leaders here in the Way Station know and you ll receive a pin! Beginning_Missions Camp_Slide Hey 5 th graders, don t forget you can sign up for Missions Camp! You ll have a blast as you serve others in the community, worship, hear an amazing word from one of the student pastors, and hang out with other middle school kids. You can sign up for a whole week, or just go for one day to check it out. You can find out more info by talking to one of the CF Kids Directors.
