2 Hey gang, welcome to the Way Station! My name is [Host s name] and you came at just the right time. The weather outside might be frightfully hot, but here in CF Kids, we re as cool as can be and celebrating Christmas in July! That s right! I said Christmas! Why are we doing this? Uh, who really needs a reason to celebrate Christmas all year round? Christmas is a time of giving and when we remember the GREATEST gift that God has ever given us. Does anyone know what that gift was? (Wait for response) That s right, Christmas is a time when we remember that God gave us the gift of a Savior, Jesus! So Christmas doesn t just have to happen in December, because we can celebrate our Savior everyday! ELEM Gizmos WK 5 (1) And that s why we are celebrating today. Let s start off by talking to God through prayer! Lead Kids in Prayer Because Christmas is typically celebrated in December, you can say that celebrating Christmas in July is pretty unique. Which is what we ve been talking about all series long: Uniqueness! Now everyone has something pretty unique about them. Does anyone have a unique talent that they d like to share? (Wait for response) That is very unique. I have a very unique friend who likes to well just follow along with the Christmas game on the screen and you ll find out! ELEM Gizmos WK 5 (2) Looks like you met my unique friend Daryl the distracting llama. Speaking of unique, we ve been following Pastor Steve s Mad Art Skillz Youtube page. Let s just say that some of his projects have been... interesting. What will he do today? Let s check it out! God equipped you for something special and wants you to use your gifts and talents to do good. Which leads us to our TRUE story from the Bible. Check it out! ELEM Gizmos WK 5 (3) Gizmos_Lesson Gizmos_Wk 5_Bible Story_Video Although everyone in the world is made unique, the Bible teaches those who believe Jesus is the Son of God are provided with gifts that come from His Holy Spirit. These are like gifts wrapped up for Christmas; they are gift given by the Holy Spirit to Christians. The Holy Spirit provides a number of gifts to God s people such as serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, and a whole host of others. I find this so encouraging because it means I have been given a gift from God to be used for the good of others. What are some gifts that God had given you that you can use to help others? Gizmos_Wk 5_Bottom Line_Slide If you have accepted Jesus forgiveness for your sins and have decided to follow Jesus with your whole life, take some time to discover your spiritual gifts. Maybe you have no problem generously giving to those around you. That s the gift of generosity. Some of you may have the ability to teach your peers from the Bible in a way they can understand. That s the gift of teaching. Whether you know or don t know your gift, God promises to give one to everyone who follows Jesus, and He expects us to use it for the good of others. ELEM Gizmos WK 5 (5) In fact, 1 Corinthians 12:7 says (open Bible and read 1 Corinthians 12:7): The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. Let s pray. Lead kids in Prayer Prayer: Dear God, thanks for making us all unique. Nobody on earth is the exact same. Please help us to use the spiritual gifts You have given us for the good of others. Please help our actions to point others to You. We love You and we pray all these things in Jesus name, amen. All right, now on to some more Christmas in July fun! Gizmos_Game Gizmos_Christmas in July_Slide LEM Gizmos WK 5 (6) I don t know about you, but my family and I just LOVE decorating the Christmas tree together. And I figured, hey, why wait until Christmas to decorate a tree? Which leads us to our game! For this game I m going to need 12 volunteers! (Once you have the volunteers, split them up into teams of two) One team member will be the tree and the other is the decorator. Give each team a roll of green streamer, bows, and any other Christmas decorations you have. As soon as the timer starts, the tree stands still as the decorator uses the roll of green streamer to cover the tree from head to toe and decorate with bows and props. Each team has 3 minutes to decorate! ELEM Gizmos WK 5 (7) (To audience) Then, I ll need your help! You guys will choose which team decorated the best tree with a round of applause! That team will receive a prize. Let s play Trim the Tree! Host leads game Gizmos_3 Minute Time_Video Great job decorators! Now it s time to choose which tree is decorated the best!
