Prelude Silent Prayers Candle Lighting Invocation Amazing Grace Dedicated In Honor of Deborah Styles Flute Choir Melvin Lauf Jr. *Call to Worship: Leader: We look to rulers of this earth for leadership, wisdom, and strength. People: We look to our bodies for stability, fulfillment, and joy. Leader: We look to families and friends for love, compassion, and hope. People: When rulers betray, bodies fail, and families disappoint, Leader: God offers another look. God will guide us; His Spirit sustain us. People: Christ will welcome us home. We are all God s family now. *Hymn # 455 (blue hymnal) All Creatures of Our God and King G. Kirchengesäng *Prayer of Confession: Heavenly Father, You call us to You, like a good parent, to guide and protect us, to nourish and lead us. Yet, like unruly children, we strain at Your guidance, we try to break away and do it ourselves. We feel our strength and imagine ourselves to be all powerful. We rejoice in our life and imagine ourselves to be immortal. We want to be independent rather than depend on You. Lord, forgive us and free us. Open our hearts and minds to learn again to live Your love as we celebrate and worship You here together. Amen. *Silent Prayer *Kyrie Eleison Lord have mercy upon us. Christ have mercy upon us. Lord have mercy upon us. *Assurance of Pardon *Gloria Patri (blue hymnal) #579 Children s Song Jesus Loves the Little Ones Traditional Jesus loves the little ones like me, me, me. Pew Pals are prepared weekly and are available in the vestibules for children aged preschool 5 th grade. These special bags have books, activities, and liturgical items related to the Biblical messages that will assist your child in learning to be in the worshiping community. Be sure to pick up a bag for your child and return it at the end of the service. The green bags are geared to ages 3-6, and the orange bags to ages Baby and Me Room: For parents with babies who need a quiet moment during the service, a comfortable spot is available in our Toddler Nursery Room. The Fellowship committee is looking for volunteers to serve on their ministry planning team. Team meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. To learn more, contact Kim Collins at PRIME TIMERS BEWARE: Calories are coming with a potluck lunch. Thursday, June 21st, is our regular monthly meeting, at 12:00 noon. Whip up your best casserole, meat dish, veggie, dessert, or whatever you want to bring, and meet us in Lanneau Hall for fun and chatter. Paul has a surprise guest speaker planned, and we will discuss Senior Life Choices. (This may help you decide about that cross-country bicycling trip you ve been considering ) SUPPORT Finance: The offerings along with monies received for the use of facilities and the total expenses for the one month and four months ended on April 30, 2018: Monthly Year to Date Receipts $ 57, $ 270, Expenses - $ 45, $ 214, Overage/(Deficit) $ 12, $ 56,050.00
6 YTD expenses are $27,647 under budget, including $19,966 in unpaid salaries. YTD receipts are $27,402 more than budgeted. Receipts include $31,250 in 2018 pledges that were prepaid in If it were not for the reduced salaries and prepaid pledges, our YTD overage would be approximately $16,000. The current balance in the endowment fund is $258,509. Please contact the church office if you would like any additional information on our church finances. Thank you. Summer is upon us! Just look at your thermometer, which corresponds to the lower attendance at church already. We scatter, just like children escaping on the last day of school! The monthly bills, though, always seem to find us, don t they? Please remember to continue your faithfulness with your tithes and offerings during the summer months. The early part of 2018 has found us generally true to our pledges, for which the Finance Team is thankful. God smiles when we respond to His lavish generosity to us. In turn, let s say Thank You in a tangible way by remaining His faithful servants with our financial resources. WORSHIP Music Director: The search has begun for a Music Director. This position is part time, with Sunday participation and evening rehearsals expected. If you know of anyone who may be interested in this position, they may call the church office at and leave their name and number. Someone will be in contact with them. Thank you. Musicians Needed: Do you play an instrument or are part of a musical group? We could use your help! We are looking for individuals or groups who would like to volunteer to provide music for the offertory on select Sundays. If you are interested, please complete the Simple Signup or contact the church office. If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Channell at SERVICE Home of Hope s Mission is to provide a safe shelter, food, support services, and an avenue to self-sufficiency for homeless men in our community. SPC provides ministry support to Home of Hope in multiple ways, including donations of supplies on their Needs List. Updated list includes: Paper plates, Lysol Air Freshener, laundry detergent and paper towels.
