St. Peter Kingdom Concept: We glorify God by building healthy relationships with God, with one another, and with our community following the example of Jesus Christ. GATHERING PRELUDE COMMUNITY CONVERSATION & PRAYER REQUESTS CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God, abounding in steadfast love toward us, healing the sick and raising the dead, showering us with every good gift. C: Amen. P: Let us confess our sin in the presence of God and of one another. (Silence is kept for reflection.) P: Just and gracious God, C: we come to you for healing and life. Our sins hurt others and diminish us; we confess them to you. Our lives bear the scars of sin; we bring these also to you. Show us your mercy, O God. Bind up our wounds, forgive us our sins, and free us to love, for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen. P: The apostle Paul assures us: When we were dead in our trespasses, God made us alive together with Christ, nailing the record of our sins to the cross. Jesus says to you, Your sins are forgiven. Be at peace, and tell everyone how much God has done for you. C: Amen. 2

OPENING HYMN I Believe in Jesus 3

GREETING P: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. C: And also with you. HYMN OF PRAISE Awesome God PRAYER OF THE DAY P: Let us pray. O God, mighty and immortal, C: you know that as fragile creatures surrounded by great dangers, we cannot by ourselves stand upright. Give us strength of mind and body, so that even when we suffer because of human sin, we may rise victorious through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen. 4

WORD MOMENT FOR MISSION Bernie Juday FIRST LESSON Isaiah 58:9b-14 9b If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil, 10 if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday. 11 The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your needs in parched places, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters never fail. 12 Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to live in. 13 If you refrain from trampling the sabbath, from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call the sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable if you honor it, not going your own ways, serving your own interests, or pursuing your own affairs; 14 then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of your ancestor Jacob, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. Word of God, word of life. C: Thanks be to God. CHILDREN S MOMENT Amy Mojica GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Thy Word See page 10 (verse 1) 5

GOSPEL Luke 13:10-17 P: The holy gospel according to Luke the thirteenth chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord. P: 10 Now [Jesus] was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11 And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight. 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, Woman, you are set free from your ailment. 13 When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. 14 But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day. 15 But the Lord answered him and said, You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger, and lead it away to give it water? 16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen long years, be set free from this bondage on the sabbath day? 17 When he said this, all his opponents were put to shame; and the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things that he was doing. This is the gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Thy Word See page 10 (verse 2) SERMON Colorado Service Trip Youth HYMN OF THE DAY Here I Am, Lord ELW # 574 (Red Hymnal) THE PRAYERS (Time for silent prayer & meditation See Yellow Prayer Sheet) AM: Hear us, O God. C: Your mercy is great. 6

MEAL THE PEACE P: The peace of Christ be with you always. C: And also with you. THE OFFERING OFFERTORY PRAYER AM: Let us pray. God of mercy and grace, C: the eyes of all wait upon you, and you open your hand in blessing. Fill us with good things at your table, that we may come to the help of all in need, through Jesus Christ, our redeemer and Lord. Amen. SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION P: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. P: Lift up your hearts. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give our thanks and praise. P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. P: Remembering, therefore, his death, resurrection and ascension, we await his coming in glory. Pour out upon us the Spirit of your love, O Lord, and unite the wills of all who share this heavenly food, the body 7

and blood of Jesus Christ, our Lord; to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and forever. C: Amen. THE LORD'S PRAYER P: Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us. Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen. INVITATION TO COMMUNION P: Christ invites you to a place of honor at this banquet. Welcome to the feast. (United in our shared baptism, we gather at Christ s table. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine of Holy Communion, bringing to us the gift of forgiveness and the promise of eternal life. Please come forward via the side aisles and receive the bread. After you receive the bread, you may choose an individual glass of wine (purple cups in the outer rings) or grape juice (white cups in the center rings). A chalice of wine is available in the center for those who wish to drink from a common cup. You may return to your pew via the center aisle. If you do not desire to receive communion, you may come forward for a blessing or remain seated.) Send us now as your disciples, announcing peace and proclaiming that the reign of God has come near; through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. C: Amen. 19 JANET S OFFICE HOURS Tuesdays 1:00-4:00 Wednesdays 3:00-5:30 Thursdays 3:30-6:00 Or by appointment. Please feel free to me jblank@stpetersheboygan.com or call/text ( ) to set up another time. I will often be in either earlier or later on those days, but these hours are the best for finding me here. You may recall that about a year and a half ago Shalom hosted a "JOB FAIR" during the Fellowship hour. We had a ton of participation and it was a roaring success! When we wrapped up it was decided that we would indeed hold the job fair again, but that we would hold it as part of Rally Sunday! That way - all the teams can have a kick off! So, here's the deal. If you lead a team, at your next meeting please find out how you'd like to participate and let me know! If you're on a team, at your next meeting please bring this up to your team/leader (just in case they didn't make this list somehow!) If you're not on a team...or are looking for extra teams to be on, mark your calendar! This will be the day to find out all about the various teams and sign up to attend a meeting! Here are some ideas...each group gets a table to design as they see fit! Set up a display, play a video, offer job descriptions, include a signup sheet! And...offering snacks always gets folks to your table. September 11th is shaping up to be an exciting and busy day at St Peter! Rally Sunday, Gods Work Our Hands, Job Fair and Sunday School Registration! Wow! Looking forward to hearing from everyone! PETER S CAFÉ ANNOUNCEMENT Here at St. Peter, we are blessed with many volunteers who help carry out God s work at St. Peter and through St. Peter into the community around us. You work as teachers, singers, mentors, quilters, knitters and in many, many other ways. The third Thursday of every month, one of those ministries, St. Pete s Café, feeds about 125 people, and all of it is made possible through the efforts of volunteers. (Last month we served 140 plates of delicious food.) There is an on-going opportunity for you to help the Chef-of-the-Month prepare the food. Cooking skills are not needed! Men, women or teens, if you can cut vegetables, stir a spoon or butter bread, you are qualified! The food preparation happens Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoon of Café week, and the meal is served starting at 5:30 p.m. The amount of prep needed may vary a bit, depending on the menu. Patty is available all day Wednesday and Thursday; so if you can t do late afternoons, or are already at church in the morning, prep could be earlier in the day. Just call and let her know what time you would like to help. If you can help, just show up Wednesday after 2 pm and Thursday after 3 pm. Any and all help is welcome. You can make a difference in someone s life by chopping veggies or buttering bread. Who knew? Craft Sale applications are now available for our 14TH ANNUAL HOLIDAY CRAFT AND BAKE SALE on November 19th, 2016 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
