Sometimes we find that difficult to do. It s not easy to admit our mistakes and acknowledge our weaknesses. It s not easy to accept criticism honestly. It s not easy to compliment those who compete with us. It s not easy to give other people the credit they deserve. Pardon us, we pray, if we have allowed pride to get in our way, and teach us to follow the humble example of our Lord. 3 WE PROCLAIM GOD S WORD PRAYER OF INTERCESSION Today we lift before you the many among us who we call senior citizens, who are up in years and are in various stages of health and well-being. We thank you for those who are still active and alert, and who are still able to enjoy life, and we pray for their continuing health and strength. We thank you for those who during their retirement years are contributing hundreds of hours of volunteer service for worthy causes. Their contribution of time and talents is beyond calculation, and we thank you for it. We pray for those who are living in retirement homes and receiving various levels of care. Some are loving it, some are disliking it, and others are still adjusting to the change of environment and lifestyle. We pray for all of them, whatever their circumstances that they may find these years to be comfortable and fulfilling. At a young age, she made a public confession of her faith and was baptized. She is an ordained Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC and served as a Seminary Student Intern at Faith Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. She received her Master of Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Education and Career Highlights Le Quan is a native Washingtonian and a product of the Prince George s County Public School System. After graduating from high school, Le Quan earned her Associates of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Prince George s Community College. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Maryland, College Park. Le Quan returned to her high school alma mater to teach American Literature and Spanish. She also exercised and sharpened her knowledge in her field of study as a middle school Language Arts teacher. Le Quan holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Development with a concentration in Training and Consulting from Bowie State University. Le Quan has been employed with the Federal government for over 15 years and is currently a Program Manager with the Office of Security and Hazardous Materials Safety at the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington, DC. Le Quan has traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally including Gambia, Senegal, Ghana, England, Spain, Morocco, France and Italy. She has been the recipient of numerous academic, performance, achievement, leadership, and monetary awards from both private and public organizations. Interest and Activities Le Quan competed and finished the 30th Annual Marine Corps Marathon; a 2 mile high, 120 mph free fall skydive. She enjoys reading, traveling, shopping, community events and spending time with family and friends. A Congregational Meeting is called for Sunday, February 12, 2017, immediately following morning service, to hear a report of the church finances and our plans in this transition period. Shepherd Park Pot Luck: Please remember that the annual New Year-New Neighbor Potluck Dinner sponsored by the Shepherd Park Citizens Association is today, January 29th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Northminster Presbyterian Church Social Hall. Everyone is encouraged to come and take advantage of this opportunity to get to know the neighbors. There is always a lot of food, but you can bring something to share; enjoy the fun activities; stay and mingle.

6 Funds2Org organization: For those of you who are cleaning out your closets, DKG NuState is collecting slightly worn, used, or new shoes for the Funds2Org organization. The shoes will be distributed to Africa, Haiti and third world countries. You can bring your shoes to the church. They will be picked up and delivered to the Funds2Org organization by Rochelle Mickens. The end date for pickup has been extended to April. The Board of Elders meets on the second Tuesday of every month. The Community Biblical Dialogue holds explorations of spiritual disciplines every second Saturday of the month from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. in the Library. This year's discussion will be on the Letters of Paul. We hope to see you there. Bring a friend. The children s Church Teachers meet every first Sunday in the Church Library immediately following Sunday service. Bible study class for adults meets Sunday mornings, 9:30 10:55 am, in the church library (Room 203). Sunday school for students ages 3-15, meets on 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sundays from 11:15am to 12:45pm. 7 NORTHMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH MINISTRY DIVISIONS The Session of Northminster Presbyterian Church is organized into four ministry divisions: The Administrative Division oversees the Budget, Finance and Fund Raising activities of the Church. In addition, this Division is responsible for nominating new officers (Elders and Deacons) and coordinating Trustee and Deacon Activities. The Administrative Division meets on the first Sunday of the month after church. The Communication Division coordinates Northminster s Worship & Music, Christian Education, Mission, and Social Witness activities. The Communication Division meets on the second Sunday of the month after church. The Stewardship Division directs the Stewardship activities of the Church and is responsible for Personnel matters. The Division meets after church on the third Sunday of each month. The New and Current Membership Division oversees Northminster s Fellowship and Evangelism activities and coordinates the continuing nurture of our members. The Membership Division meets on the fourth Sunday of each month after church. All ministry Division meetings are open (unless otherwise stated) and we want to hear from you.
