2 Dear RCC, November is a month that begins and ends with holidays. November 1 is All Saints Day, a day when we remember those who have died who shared their faith with us. Then at the end of the month, we celebrate Thanksgiving. I never thought about these two holidays being connected, but as I read one of the scriptures for All Saints Day I was struck by this line: On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food (Isaiah 25:6a). A great and abundant feast is one of the primary images we have of the fulfillment of the kingdom of God (which we often call heaven). As you gather around your holiday tables this month, think about the ways you can make a little bit of heaven on earth. Think of the ways you can share that glimpse of heaven with the world. And think of the ways you imagine the kingdom of God being like a Thanksgiving meal. I imagine A feast where every child of God has enough to eat A home that is open to those who may not otherwise have a place to go A place where our past, present, and future meet A table that has enough seats for everyone A spirit of joy, laughter, security, and gratitude May these things be true around your tables this November. And may we strive to make our world like our tables, too, until the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, until it is on earth as it is in heaven. To help our children get into a good habit of reading, we will present Youth Bibles to our 2nd grade class, plus any older children who have not received one. The children we know will receive a Bible are: Jacobe Boos and Keaton Walker. (If you know of any child who would like to receive their Bible this year, please call the church office, )

3 At RCC we have two youth groups: Chi Rho and CYF. Chi Rho is for youth in grades 6-8th. The adult leaders for Chi Rho are: Pastor Katie, Sheila Aukes, Mike Miller. CYF is for youth in grades The leaders for CYF are: Denise Pfister and Mike and Deb Bracewell. Kristin Danley-Greiner will be helping as needed with both groups. Both groups generally meet on the first and third Sunday, September through April (see schedule for exceptions.) Generally we try to begin each meeting by sharing a meal. 4 Runnells Christian Church, Thank you so much for your donation to support our Hunger Run We were able to hold a successful fund-raising event with your support. Caring Hands Outreach CHRISTMAS OUTREACH AUCTION! The Christmas Outreach Auction is Sunday, December 2. We count on the generosity of all our members to donate craft items, baked goods, coupons for services and from businesses. Then we count on your generosity and concern for those in need to come and bid on items. All the proceeds from this auction are used to help people in need in our local area. Our goal is to raise at least $5000 to help those in our community that need a helping hand. We are looking for a few people to help lead the charge asking for donations for our auction. (This consists of calling, stopping in person, mailing or ing potential donors and then picking up the items). Questions or items to donate? Please call the church Come join the fun! Please help us Decorate! Saturday, December 1 starting at 9:30a.m. we will be decorating the church for the Hanging of the Greens on Sunday, December 2. We need lots of help people who can climb ladders, fluff garland and who enjoy decorating. Please come help us Saturday morning. Poinsettia Order Form In order to decorate our church for Christmas, we are offering the opportunity to order a poinsettia. Poinsettias may be dedicated in memory of a loved one or in honor of a living person. You are welcome to take your poinsettia home after worship on Christmas Eve. 6 Dear church family, Thank you for the wonderful donations for the medical mission trip to Haiti. I was able to take almost all of the supplies in a check bag, 50 pounds of supplies. (The few other items went to Caring Hands.) I was amazed at how quickly people filled the bin with an assortment of requested items! The $500 from the RCC international fund helped Emma and I with the expenses of the trip. Even more, the blessing and your prayers helped make the trip a possibility. On behalf of the Hatian people, "mesi" (thank you in Creole.) My daughter, Emma Reeve-Lobaugh, and I joined a team from Dubuque and Indiana to work on a medical mission trip in Haiti September 30 through October 8. We worked at an established clinic in the mountains, about 45 minutes from Port-A-Prince, in Gromothe. Our small but effective group was made up of two doctors, 2 nurses, a physical therapist, and 7 others: we ran a pharmacy and a lab, had two people doing clinic intake, and three separate stations each with a doctor/nurse and a scribe. Emma took blood pressures, temperatures and weights, also assisted folks waiting their turns. I worked with another nurse, between the 2 doctors at their stations, evaluating, diagnosing and prescribing treatments and medications. We treated a variety of fungus (it is a tropical setting), scabies, and intestinal parasites. High blood pressure is very common. We treated babies, expectant moms, folks with injuries, infections and so forth. There even was a baby born at the clinic on Saturday! We were able to serve 676 people! Please join me for a presentation about the international mission trip at worship service on November 11. For the month of November, we will collect feminine hygiene products for the Caring Hands Food Pantry.
