It is there, in the family setting, that Vincentians listen, offer humble advice, and render assistance. Know that the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul bring your gift directly to the poor and suffering in our community. During February and March, we made 18 visits, helped 45 people, with $2650 rent, $756 utilities, $300 gas, $48 phone card and numerous food items as well as listening and providing emotional support. Thank you for your ongoing prayer and support. Rochester Serrans World Day of Prayer for Vocations April 22, 2018 On this Good Shepherd Sunday we celebrate World Day of Prayer for Vocations, a day dedicated around the Church to pray for fidelity to our vocation. The Church invites us to honor the vocation of all Christians given at baptism. Through the vocation of marriage, priesthood, diaconate, consecrated life, and the single life may we be committed to furthering the reign of God. With Serrans, pray with your heart that all who hear their vocational call to religious life and the priesthood will answer the call and be encouraged and supported by parents and families. Bless our priests and religious who minister to us. Celebrate the call of single and married persons that they may experience the grace and love to unite with one another in fidelity to the Gospel. Join Rochester Serrans in promoting and supporting vocations. Contact Berny Saletel or Mike Sheehan for information.

7 A P R I L 2 2, T H S U N D A Y O F E A S T E R 4 th Sunday of Easter From Fr. Russ Someone s knocking at the door. Someone s ringing the bell. Someone s knocking on the door. Someone s ringing the bell. Do me a favor, open the door, and let me in (Paul McCartney & Wings Let Em In.) The readings during the Easter season focus on the resurrection appearances of Jesus to his disciples. What is interesting is that the disciples of Jesus need to come to an awareness of seeing him, experiencing him in a totally new way. The methods Jesus uses for this to begin happening for them are quite ordinary his wounds, examples of service, the breaking of the bread, opening their minds to the scriptures, mercy. The disciples of Jesus experienced the risen one s presence because we, the church, are still here! When Jesus tells his disciples, peace be with you, he is no doubt offering them his mercy, forgiveness. Jesus is doing something for them more than just reassuring them that they are forgiven, that he is alive. He is giving them courage to go out into the world and be about mercy, charity, raising the wounded up to new life. The disciples experienced God s mercy and because of that they went out with courage from the Holy Spirit to preach repentance for the forgiveness of sins and to baptize all Nations in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We are just like those first disciples on a journey of faith, gradually seeing and experiencing Christ in new ways. As we gather in communion to break bread with one another, may we open our hearts to the Holy Spirit to go out into our worlds and experience Christ s presence in new ways always keeping in mind the words of Paul McCartney & Wings Someone s knocking on the door. Someone s ringing the bell Do me a favor, open the door and let em (Jesus) in! God bless and have a good week. Parish Life GET YOUR TICKETS NOW FOR TWINS BASEBALL!
