CWL ~ The St. Philip Neri council of the Catholic Women s League have 2015 Religious Calendars available for purchase for $5. CWL CLOTHING DEPOT ~ is in need of shopping bags (large & small) for sending home items with their clients. If you have any, please drop off them off in the CWL clothing collection bin. GOLDEN AGE~ The next meeting will be Wed Dec 17th 1:15 pm for the regular card party. THANK YOU ~ A well deserved thank you goes out to the gentlemen who regularly set up and take down the tables and chairs in the Welcome Area for the various social events. With all the happenings in the parish this month, it s been a busy time for you and we all appreciate the effort that you put in year round. Parish Winter Social Mark your Calendars for the Winter Social Event on January 17th featuring the band No Hurry! Tickets are $15 each and will be available beginning December 20th. Limited number of tickets are available! ANGEL TREE ~ Prison Fellowship Christmas Program Thank you to everyone who is participating in this wonderful program this year. Parishioners from St. Philip s will be providing 6 families (10 children) with Christmas gifts on behalf of their parent. God bless you all for making the season a little brighter! FOOD CARDS ~ The St. Philip Neri Knights of Columbus will once again be selling prepaid Food Cards. The cards are $25, $50 & $100 denominations which can be used for any grocery purchases in or around Saskatoon. They will be selling the cards after mass on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month. The proceeds of the cards will go toward the restoration of the church windows. The cards make excellent Christmas gifts for those hard to buy for people on your list. GREY CUP POOL ~ The winners of the 2014 Grey Cup Pool sponsored by the St. Philip s Council of the KofC #9539 were: Ron Leontowicz; Lorna Litvenenko; Tomas Burkell; Del Lummerding; Brendan Brown; Barb Phillips; Arron Miller. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who supported the Knights in this project. POINSETTIAS ~ The St. Philip Neri Art & Environment Committee is asking for donations of poinsettias (any colour) for Christmas. Please drop them off at the church anytime during Advent. Thank you for your generosity. Missals The 2015 missals are for sale in the welcome area. ($5 each) while supplies last! There are not that many left. ATTENTION QUILTERS ~ The CWL Members of the Saskatoon area are going to be making quilts for the CWL Clothing Depot. All women interested in helping with this project are invited to contact Margaret Schwab (306) or maschwab@shaw.ca We anticipate meeting once or twice a month to work on quilts and enjoy fellowship in a day long workshop. The first meeting is set for January 8 th, 9:00 am at Holy Spirit Church, 114 Kingsmere Blvd Meeting room C. Additional dates to be discussed. Parish Nursing News CHRISTMAS CAROLLING ~ St Philip Neri Parish Nurses with our friends from Kinsmen Lodge & 4 group homes will be carolling on December 23. We will meet at St. Philip Neri at 6:30 pm & go to Elmwood for 7:15 pm. From there we will divide up & go to 2 group homes & return to St. Philip Neri for drinks, munchies and fellowship. 3 STEWARDSHIP/MINISTRY The schedule for ministry sign up for the Christmas season Masses is in the welcome area for a few more days. Thank you to all of those who have already signed up. If you have not signed up but are able to assist, please know you are very welcome to check in before masses begin to see if any assistance is needed. Much gratitude for all those who step up to the plate during this busy season! RCIA During one of the weekend masses, the RCIA candidates are dismissed to study the readings of the day. If there are any people who are able to assist with this (dismissals) once per month, please contact Shirley at the parish. Dismissals are held in the sun room. BAPTISM - The celebration of Baptism will be held during the weekend masses, February 14/15, There are two preparation sessions for parents (godparents are invited) on Thursday, February 5 and 12 beginning at 6:45 pm. and pre-registration is necessary. Can we, this Advent season, testify to the light Jesus brings to our lives and help others find the answers to their searching? A Trinity of Sound Celebrating the music of the Chaldean, Ukrainian and Latin rites 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18 at Holy Family Cathedral in Saskatoon A choir from each of three rites of the Catholic Church will sing a chant, a traditional song and a contemporary song from their particular tradition. Everyone is invited to stay for refreshments, with food from Iraq, Ukraine and Italy to be served after the concert. National Evangelization Teams (NET) Ministries is introducing infuse, a method of youth ministry customized to a parish s needs. An infuse team consists of 6-8 young adults on fire for Christ, who have received over 600 hours of formation, and who are passionate about bringing the love of Jesus to young people.
