Our calling is realized in a spirit of love, unity and hospitality. As a faith community we will deepen our knowledge and love of God in Christ. 3 Second Sunday in Ordinary Time January 20, 2019 TAKE FIVE Service with a smile. Service mottos abound, ranging from The customer is always right to Ours is not to question why, ours is but to do or die. At a particular nuptial celebration in Cana, servants in the middle of a supply crisis were told to follow the instructions of a young man who made puzzling demands of them. As a result of their obedience, ordinary water became fine wine. The crisis turned into a triumph. When we listen to Jesus and act on what we hear - the very definition of obedience - marvels ensue. Gospel always starts out sounding incredible, until it s reality. CALLING ALL KNITTERS! Join us for an hour on Tuesdays at 2pm in the parish library making prayer shawls for the sick. If you have any questions, call Carrie Richters at ANNIVERSARY MASS Bishop Libasci invites all couples celebrating an anniversary in 2019 of 10, 15, 20, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 55+ years, to attend the Spring Wedding Anniversary Mass. This celebration will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Joseph Cathedral, Manchester. To register, please contact your parish office by February 1, The parish office will gather and submit all necessary information. Once registration has been completed by the parish office, all registrants will receive an invitation to this special celebration. Couples celebrating anniversaries of 5, 25, or 50 years will be asked to register later for a fall celebration. A SCRIPTURAL WALK THROUGH THE MASS For Catholics, the Mass is entirely familiar, but often not well understood. Scripture scholar and wellknown author Dr. Edward Sri takes listeners on a journey through the sacred liturgy that is sure to help Catholics experience the Mass more fully as the most powerful and important prayer of the Church. Dr. Sri examines the historical and biblical roots of the words, prayers, actions, and gestures contained within the mass in order to arrive at a deeper understanding of their significance. 5 January20,2019 STEWARDSHIP As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Pt 4:10). Consider what you can do to help. The ministries listed below need your talents. Hospitality Ministers - The Minister of Hospitality fosters a sense of welcome at all of our liturgical gatherings. Responsibilities include greeting people as they arrive, assisting with seating, taking up the collection, organizing the presentation of the gifts, passing out the bulletins at the end of mass and tidying the pews. Loaves and Fishes - Looking for individuals willing to take the helpline phone calls and determine best how to meet a client s need. One week rotation, Cash counters - Looking for volunteers able to count the collection on Sunday morning. Be part of a team that counts every 4 or 5 weeks. Welcome the Stranger - You will become part of a team that is asked to purchase particular items like bedding or toiletries for refugee families newly placed in Concord. Ride to Church - Looking for volunteers who are willing to transport people who are not able to get to Mass on their own. Welcome New Parishioners - Looking for volunteers who would be able to contact new parishioner and welcome them to our OLF/IC community. Communications Director - This person would insure timely, consistent and accurate messaging of activities that support our parish mission across all media as well as creating a communication plan that integrates the use of the parish database. Music Ministry - If you like to sing or play an instrument OLF has a Choir and a Folk Group for you to be able to use your talents Art and Environment - Help with watering flowers and plants and church decorations.
