1 Hebron Presbyterian Church Newsletter / Rev. Cinda Isler 1767 Route 30 Clinton, PA Website: hebronchurch@zoominternet.net Sunday Service starts 11:00am, (Announcements and Sharing at 10:50am) A Message from Rev. Cinda I wonder if you who are reading The Story with me have no ced how o en God tells Israel to remember what He has done for them? The LORD is adamant that the Israelites celebrate the Passover before entering into the Promised Land, something that they are to do every year at the same me, so that they will not forget how He delivered Israel from Pharaoh. Just last week when we read the Book of Judges, we saw what happened when Israel forgot to remember all that God had done for them. The people got distracted by their lives and forgot to remind each other and their children how much it ma ered to remember who they were because of God. The last me Sco and I were in Chicago, we saw a Jewish family with five li le boys walking on the Navy Pier together. I smiled when I watched all the li le brothers, because even though they were dressed really nicely and had their li le yarmulkes on their heads, they were being normal li le boys, jumping around and jabbing each other. And then I no ced something hanging around their belts. They each had four li le tassels; two at each side, front and back. I was fascinated because I remembered God s commandment from Numbers 15:37-40, to make tassels on the corners of your garments so you will remember all the commands of the LORD and will be consecrated to your God. Their li le tassels were meant to be a daily reminder not to forget what God had done for them. (also Deuteronomy 22:12) Orthodox Jews wear these tzitzit tassels under their clothing, a ached at the bo om of a sleeveless undershirt all the me, every day, to remind them of God and His Laws and His calling on their lives. We are coming into the Season which we don t want to risk forge ng. At Christmas God gave His own Son so that we could be joined to His Kingdom forever. Without Jesus, we would s ll be wondering and worrying how we could ever be holy enough to enter into God s presence. The ul mate gi that we could never dream possible was given to us in the forgiveness of sins by Jesus. When we get all caught up in prepara ons this Christmas Season, the decora ng, the buying and the Christmas par es, we need to be sure to pause and remember the real Reason for the Season. With every bell, every ornament, and every gi, be sure to remember, and give thanks to God for the amazing ways that He has offered His grace and love to us. Blessings to you all this Christmas Season! Rev. Cinda Upcoming Events Mark Your Calendar Christ the King SundayService 22, :00 am Hanging of the Greens Service First Sunday of Advent 29, :00am Christmas Eve Service 24, :00 pm Please invite family or friends to a end this special service.

3 Be An Angel Want to Be an Angel this Christmas? Hebron s Mission Commi ee is giving you the opportunity to Be an Angel to a child or teen through the West Allegheny Food Pantry Angel Tree Project. The children of those who receive food from the WA Food Pantry and Thri Store need YOU to help give them a li le something special this Christmas. Angel Tree Gi Tags are available for you to select at Hebron. They are taped to an Angel Tree located in the entrance of the church. Each child or teen is to receive a small $25 gi. There are no names on the tag. All you learn from the tag is the age and clothes size or a type of toy the child would like. You are asked not to spend over $25 so no one child receives an expensive gi especially when there is more than one child in the same family receiving Angel Tree gi s. You are to wrap the gi, securely tape the gi tag to the package then return the wrapped gi to Hebron on Sunday, 6 th. In addi on to your Angel Tree gi, your Hebron Mission Commi ee is giving each child an age appropriate Bible that will be wrapped and securely taped to your Angel Tree gi. We want to place the opportunity of ge ng to know the love of Jesus into the hands of each child or teen. We believe it will be the gi that will keep on giving. Want to par cipate in the Angel Tree program but want to share in the expense with someone? The Mission Commi ee has selected two Angel Tree Tags in order to purchase gi s for two children. You may help the commi ee by making a monetary dona on in any amount by using the specially labeled envelopes found on the table in the back of the sanctuary. The last Sunday to make a dona on to help purchase gi s for these two children will be Sunday, 29 th. If you want to pay by check, make it payable to Hebron Presbyterian Church and write, Angel Tree Gi in the memo line. Thank you for your par cipa on in this mission ini a ve during the holiday season. Christmas Eve Worship Service Offering On 24 th, the loose change and cash collected during the offering of the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be dedicated to Hebron s Good Samaritan Fund. This fund is for those in our neighborhood who are in need of emergency help. If you will not be a ending the Christmas Eve Worship Service and would like to donate to this fund you may do so by mailing a check payable to Hebron Presbyterian Church with Good Samaritan Fund wri en in the memo line. The Mission Commi ee oversees the Good Samaritan Fund which follows a session approved applica on policy.
