If you would prefer to have Caela read your prayer aloud, please use one of the cards located at the back of the Sanctuary. We respond: Merciful God...hear our prayer. Each week, we hold a few of our members in prayer, working our way through the entire membership over the course of a year. This week, we hold the following people in prayer: Lesley, Rivers, Eli, and Eleanor Noble. PRAYER OF JESUS (said in unison) Our Father is the traditional way this prayer begins. For many, however, the traditional language is a hindrance to the intimacy of their relationship with God. 7
8 You are invited to use whatever name for God you find most meaningful (Mother, Father, Creator, God, Friend, etc,). Together, our names for God will create a beautiful chorus reaching out to the Holy. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 12 An Invitation to Connect this Summer - Summer will be upon us before you know it. Last year, Pastor Caela organized a couple of gettogethers for us.we got together for a walk on the Linear trail, a playdate at the park, drinks at a restaurant, and breakfast at the Chef. This year, we d to invite YOU to consider organizing something. In particular, it would be wonderful if some of these activities were outdoors so we can get in touch with nature during the time of year when it s easiest to do so. More relaxed schedules and longer days make it easier to connect with one another. So.what ideas do you have? Splashing at City Park? A hike at Konza? Sitting by the water at Tuttle Creek? A simple stroll or bike ride with church friends? How about a picnic at Anneberg or Blue Earth? The sky s the limit. If you are interested in organizing something, the church office can help you advertise it to the congregation. So, please be in touch with Pastor Caela or Sandy and we ll get the ball rolling. Living, Loving and Learning the Psalms Saturday, June 18 in Topeka We may live in modern times, but we share many of the stresses that challenged our desert mothers and fathers. Through the psalms, the Israelites lifted their hearts to God and from their mouths came laments of suffering as well as shouts of joy. These songs offered them a healing balm, and they can do the same for us. Judith Galas (author, teacher, psalm cantor, and member of the KO Conference) leads a psalm workshop Saturday, June 18 in Topeka from 9:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. For more information visit living-loving-learning-psalms/ Fill a Backpack of Hope Thanks to everyone who has already contributed to the Backpack of Hope program.
