How is your love for Christ made manifest in your life? Love seems to the foundation of mercy. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, it is worth pondering the first two questions then further meditating on how your love is made manifest through acts of mercy. Look in this week s for opportunities to learn of Christ s love for you, open yourself to the opportunity to accept Christ s mercy, and find ways your love of Christ may manifest itself through merciful acts you find below. Sherry Weddell is the international Co-Director of the Catherine of Sienna Institute which is dedicated to the formation of Lay Catholics for their mission in the world. In her book Forming Intentional Disciples she quotes Paul Wallace, a Christian blogger as saying, I am not a Christian because it makes sense or because someone sat down and diagrammed it for me. I am a Christian because I have been loved deeply and unconditionally by Christians. Jesus taught his disciples about the importance of performing corporal and spiritual works of mercy. He also summed it all up by saying, You shall love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:31). Each of us has the power to make life a little better for others many times every day. And in every small act of love, each of us has the power to be a genuine disciple of Jesus. New Items: Life in the Eucharist April 8 th & 9 th The heart of every parish is found in its coming together to celebrate the Eucharist. In recent times Catholics have witnessed an unprecedented reform of our entire sacramental system. The renewal of the liturgy invites Catholics to enjoy full, conscious and active participation in the rites of their church, especially the celebration of the Eucharist. Come and explore five rich themes of the Mystery of the Eucharist: Nourishment, Reconciliation, Transformation, Abiding Presence and Mission. 4 Men s Bible Study Parking Tuesday, April 5 th at 7:00 am Our parish school is going throught the Third Year Accreditation Review on April 5 th. Because of this, the school will hold a Morning Prayer Assembly in the school parking lot. We ask that men attending the Men s Bible Study park off campus that day. Thank you for your understanding. First Wednesday Ministry with the Homless Wednesday, April 6 th Cooking begins at 8:30 am - Sandwich making begins at 2:30 pm This week more than ever cooks and sandwich makers are needed to prepare dinner for people staying at the Coalition for the Homeless. Come this Wednesday to the Parish Hall Kitchen to lend a hand, and give hope and sustenance to the Lazarus at our gate. Contact Mary Ann Gilbert maryann@stmargaretmary.org or (407) Social Justice Lending Library After All Masses this Weekend The Social Justice Lending Library has current and classic books and movies for you to borrow. This weekend we feature the 1998 film Smoke Signals directed by Chris Eyre, story by Sherman Alexie. It is billed as the first feature film written, directed, co-produced and acted by Native Americans. The movie is about a young man named Arnold, who embarks on a journey to find love, reconciliation and redemption after the death of his estranged father. The film shows us that despite the fact that we are living in a time when the world wants us to focus on our differences, we are actually deeply connected by our universal need for love and compassion. Like other films and books in our collection Smoke Signals highlights the dignity of the human person, a core value of Catholic social teaching. First Holy Communion Preparation Last Session - Tuesday, April 12 th from 6:45 to 8:00 pm. Parents and children should meet in the church at 6:45 pm. Banner kits will be distributed this evening. Gaitley interweaves the dramatic history of Poland, the transformative message of St. Faustins, the miraculous appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of St. Maximillian Kolbe, and the world-changing papacy of St. John Paul II into a tapestry of wonder and beauty. 7 Diocese of Orlando Vocation Workshop Saturday, April 9 th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Bishop John Noonan invites you to the 8 th Annual Diocese of Orlando Vocation Workshop to be held in our Family Life Center. The schedule includes Mass with Bishop Noonan and in-depth discussions on how parishes and schools can effectively promote vocations. All are invited to come and learn innovative practices that can help plant seeds into the hearts of young people to discover God s call in their lives. Come to Cave Quest during the week of June 20-24, 9:00 am to noon daily. Registration will be April 16 th in the coutyard after all Masses. Children ages 4-years-old preschool through sixth gradce are invited to attend. The fee is $30 per child. Crew leaders entering seventh grade this fall and youth in grades above this are needed. Adult leaders are always needed. You may volunteer for one or more days. Training will be offered Sunday, June 12 th at 10:45 am. Anyone over fifteen years of age must be fingerprinted. Please check the church website for information on safe environment and fingerprinting. Please allow at least three weeks for this process
