2 October 26 Mass of Hope & Healing Assumption Catholic Church, 464 State St N, Eden Valley, MN This special Mass is for couples experiencing infertility, as well as those who have suffered the loss of a child through miscarriage, abortion, SIDS, illness or accident. Part of this event consists of a candle-lighting ceremony remembering those who have died. Find more at St. Louis Bertrand in Foreston has four gently used white glass sanctuary globes that hold seven-day sanctuary candles. If another parish has a need or is interested in them, please call St. Mary s parish office at NOTES FROM DIOCESAN OFFICES Office of Communications/The Visitor Joe Towalski (320) YAYA! Youth and Young Adult awards: Nominate someone today! In the 12 months leading up to the 2018 Synod of Bishops on Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment, The Visitor is recognizing 12 individuals or young married couples one each month who are enthusiastic about their Catholic faith and set a good example for their peers. Nominees for a YAYA award should be between the ages of and live in the diocese. They should be registered and active participants in their parish and be enthusiastic about their Catholic faith. To nominate a youth or young adult for the YAYA awards, visit and click on the YAYA Awards button to fill out the nomination form. Call with questions or to have a form mailed to you. Worship Office Timothy Johnston (320) A Funeral Liturgy Workshop will be held on Saturday, November 4 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Diocesan Pastoral Center. This workshop is designed for those involved in any way with the Order of Christian Funerals (e.g. musicians, presider, bereavement ministry). Please register at New Diocesan Stoles: The Millennium set which is currently in use is in need of replacement. The fabric used to make these stoles is no longer in production and, therefore, no longer available for purchase, so the diocese must invest in a new set of stoles for diocesan celebrations. As with our previous set, Candice Koopmeiners, with the consultation of Tildy Ellis, has designed the stoles and will make them locally. It is a simple and classic design; several priests have been consulted on the project and provided helpful feedback. In the coming weeks and months, we will attempt to raise funds for this project, so stay tuned for more information. August 2017 Clergy Bulletin 9/29/17 2
3 Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion 2018 This liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday, February 18 at 3:00 p.m. at the cathedral. Please mark your calendars and inform the initiation team. Because there has been some recent confusion around the rite, I want to clarify that those catechumens who will celebrate the Easter Sacraments at the Vigil in 2018 must be present at the Rite of Election. This is not an optional rite. Individuals should know well enough in advance to arrange work and family schedules. Please contact the office if you have questions. Vocation Office Fr. Scott Pogatchnik (320) TOTUS TUUS Signups for Totus Tuus 2018 are underway! Mission Office Elizabeth Neville (320) Thank you for your wonderful welcome and hospitality of our 16 delegates from our sister diocese of Homa Bay Kenya who are with us through October 10. Wonderful memories and experiences will be had by all. Please be sure to send all funds collected from your Missionary Appeals this year to the office as soon as possible. We need to submit the monies to their organizations/diocese/orders by the end of October. We still have opportunities for our office to come to your parishes for faith formation and youth ministry programs, staff meetings, mission groups, men's groups, etc. We love to connect with your communities and the people throughout the diocese to share about missionary discipleship. Like the Church as a whole, each family has the mission to witness to the love of God and make it visible and effective in the world. This mission will present encouragement and practical strategies for strong family life and faith. ALL are invited, from each generation of family. Bring friends, neighbors, and those seeking a deeper faith life. Speakers will include Steve and Kari Colella, from Annunciation Ministries and the Archdiocese of Miami; Nic Davidson, evangelist, youth minister, and author (he and his family are currently members of Holy Spirit); and Dr. Ray Guarendi, clinical psychologist and TV/radio host on stronger marriages, confident parenting, and better families.
