3 Youth News! In case you haven't heard... After much prayer from the Committees, Youth, Parents, and myself, I am excited to announce that I (Jami Champagne) have been chosen by the Personnel Committee as the candidate for the Youth Minister Position. The church will vote Sunday, March 3 rd. David laid a great foundation for our Youth Group. I hope to build off what he began and continue the spiritual growth of the Youth. My vision for myself and our Youth is to follow God with all our hearts, letting Him transform us into being truly Christ like. It is difficult sometimes, regardless of age, to submit and follow God's will wholeheartedly. It takes us out of our comfort zones and pushes us to our limits. It's TOUGH! But the power of the Gospel changes lives! It has definitely changed mine! I want us to BELIEVE IT and LIVE IT! I truly love these kids and my prayer is that as we walk this path together, we will all learn and grow. Through struggle and triumph, we will BE and DO all the good things God created us to do long ago. In November, I took over the task of sending out weekly updates to the Youth and Parents. These are sent out weekly, typically on Monday afternoons via . The updates include plans for Wednesday nights, recap of the previous Wednesday night, and any other activities we have planned. If you are curious about what our Youth are up to, please contact me and I will be glad to add you to the list to receive these s. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me. 4 Churchwide Missions for March 2019 WMO/Women s Ministry News WMU Watchword: My dear friends, stand firm and don t be shaken. Always keep busy working for the Lord. You know that everything you do for him is worthwhile. (1 Cor. 15:58 CEV). Events for WMU Mission Groups March 2019: Agape Mission Group meets on Tuesday, March 5th at 10:30 AM in the FH with Jean Whittington. Lib Canaday Circle meets on Thursday, March 14th at in the library. Dorothy Parker Circle meets on Tuesday, March 12th at in the Prayer Room. Missions for Christ Mission Group meets on Sunday, at 2:00 PM in the FH with Gloria Lick. The Johnston Community College Campus Ministry on Wednesdays throughout the winter. Each week this ministry needs at least $90 towards purchasing food and drinks for the weekly Bible study. (Attendance last fall averaged 39 in the Wednesday meetings). If you are able to help with this, please let Kelton Hinton or Tonya Grice know at JBA office. This is the largest campus college ministry in the state, so please try and support these students. The SECU Hospice House in Smithfield is requesting that area church groups make meals for those individuals who have a family member staying in Hospice. The coordinator of this project is asking for desserts on Wednesday nights and a lunch on Saturday or dinner on Sunday nights. This would entail 15 individually wrapped desserts on Wednesday and Saturdays/Sundays would require 15 lunches or dinner plated items wrapped. An updated schedule for the 2019 year will be sent out by the church office. Anyone or group interested in working on this project contact Laura Rogers for a sign up date or Wanda Johnson at Hospice in Smithfield with your selected date and menu item. The JBA-WMU and Women s Ministry is offering the 2019 Mitchiner Scholarship. Once again any Baptist Association High School Senior is eligible. A copy of the application is posted on the WMU- Women s Ministry Bulletin Board. Please note each category very carefully when submitting the application. Applications must be submitted by March 15. The Women s Retreat at Ft. Caswell is on the weekend of March for First Baptist Church Four Oaks ladies. Anyone interested in attending the retreat should contact Connie Grady for more information and deposit requirements. This is a weekend of spiritual blessings, networking, great fellowship and shopping at Southport.

5 Annie Armstrong Easter offering Week of Prayer for North American Missions is March The theme is SENDING HOPE. Prayer guides and offering will be collected on Easter Sunday, April 21. Save the Date: Kennedy Home Food Drive on April 8 & 9, The Johnston Baptist Association will begin collecting items for the Baptist Children s Kennedy Home in Kinston s Spring Campaign. The dropoff will be at the Johnston Community College campus on April 8 & 9. This year they are requesting various soups, especially cream soups (mushroom and chicken), muffin mixes, juices and fruits in its own juice (not sweetened). Gift cards are certainly acceptable so that they can purchase perishable meats and other items. THEY DO NOT NEED CANNED GREEN BEANS, CORN OR SPINACH. The newly revised Funeral Food Committee sheets are available on the table. We have tried to keep this updated to better serve everyone. Save the Date: WMU Mission Extravaganza and Annual Meeting is scheduled for April at Trinity Baptist church in Raleigh. Registration is online at WMUNC.org. CHECK OUT THE WMU BULLETIN BOARD LOCATED ACROSS FROM THE PRAYER ROOM FOR ANY NEWS ITEMS. ACTEENS AND GIRLS IN ACTION GROUPS ALSO HAVE SPACE FOR ITEMS AVAILABLE. Samaritan s Purse - Operation Christmas Child Item for the month of March: Washcloths Preschool News February has been such a fun month. We have tried new foods every week. We ve had Rice and Fortune Cookies, Valentine Goodies, Soup, Pizza, Muffins and Green Eggs. We will also start March off by eating! We are learning about nutrition, which is good after all those Valentine s Cupcakes. Our Preschoolers will make their own salads on Salad Bar Day. On the second week of March we will be celebrating St. Patrick s Day and all the colors of the rainbow by learning about Noah s Ark. We hope that pesky ole leprechaun doesn t show up to do any tricks. Last year he made a mess in our classrooms. Finally we will celebrate Spring and hope to have some beautiful Spring days to play outside. We will also be on the lookout for Bees, Butterflies and Bugs which we will learn about during the last week of March. We opened registration for the 2019/2020 school year in February. On the day we opened to the public we filled all our classes! We are truly blessed! We are so grateful to all the parents, teachers, and church members who have said wonderful things about our little classes. We have started a waiting list, so if you know of a child who needs to be on it, please let us know so we can add them before the list gets too long.
