2 A NOTE FROM PASTOR DEAN Aloha Church, We are extremely thankful for you all and our church body here at Kona Baptist. We are blessed as the Lord continues to do great things within the body of Christ here. Thank you for taking the time to recognize my Pastoral anniversary date. We were surprised and blessed by your gift. It is an honor serving here in Kona and Kona Baptist Church. For the past couple of months I have once again been convicted to surround myself with a group of men to disciple. To encourage, strengthen, motivate and hopefully inspire for the purpose of Kingdom work. We have been challenged and exhorted to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:19) This is the challenge, to train up believers to do all that Christ would have us do for the sake of the Kingdom. John 8:31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus sa id, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Discipleship is mandated whether it be one on one or collectively growing together. We are called to grow beyond our own salvation. Discipleship is the process of embracing the life and ethics of Jesus Christ because of the hope laid out in the Gospel. It is a call to transformation and is a term used to refer to a disciple s transformation from some other worldview and practice of life into that of Jesus Christ. Note the Apostle Paul s description of this process, that the disciple not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God; what is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2) Therefore, a disciple is not simply an accumulator of information, or one who merely changes moral behavior in regards to the teachings of Jesus Christ, but in response to God s work in him or her seeks a fundamental shift toward the ethics of Jesus Christ in every way. Let me Challenge you to Disciple to one or perhaps a few. Call me if you need resources. I will be taking four men through the study Series 2:7 put out by Naypress. It will consist of three books, 22 weeks, commitment to the class, and to train others. It is a Discipleship Study that will train disciples to train disciples to tra well, you get it. 5 Aloha KBC Ohana! The Valentine s Luau hosted by the youth was a success! Thank you so much for supporting our youth group. We would also like to say thank you to all those who helped out!

6 Sports Camp was a huge success! There was a great turn out and many families in the community attended. The Missions Team was a huge help along with our KBC members. THANK YOU to all who made this a great event!

7 Kona Baptist Church Food Giveaway Event What a blessing it was to provide bags of food to those in need! Many members of the community were present as we ministered to them through music and fellowship as we presented them with a bag full of dry goods, canned food and fresh avocados. Mahalo to all that donated and came to serve. We could not have done it without each and every one of you! IN THE SAME WAY, LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE BEFORE OTHERS, THAT THEY MAY SEE YOUR GOOD DEEDS AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN MATTHEW 5:16

9 Children of KBC Our and RA groups have a great time learning about the Lord and his works each Wednesday evening. GAs were busy these past few months! In January they had a sleepover at the Presiados home then the girls put together a fundraiser for the Women s Shelter in February. A total of $340 was raised and the girls brought Valentine s gift bags and goodies to the shelter. Great job GAs!

10 Youth Group During Sunday School we are going through the book of John and during Wednesday youth Bible study we are doing a lesson on Why True Love Waits Please continue to pray for our youth group and for their spiritual growth and maturity.
