It was a blessing to see how God spoke into the lives of broken women, changing them and uplifting their spirits to become anointed royal daughters of the Heavenly King.

2 In March we opened a second Bible School in South Africa. The school is situated on Dr Andre Strydom s farm outside of Newcastle, Kwa-Zulu Natal. The first semester went extremely well and the students all left inspired and encouraged. The Newcastle Christian Community Church worked hard with Dr Andre to prepare the buildings for the first semester and we want to thank everyone who have contributed their time and resources to get the job done. It surely is a blessing and this is going to be another venue where spiritual leaders and pastors are going to be equipped and trained for effective ministry. During the April school holidays 12 children from the Emmanuel Children s Home in Middelburg visited Cape Town. Hands on Africa has been involved with Emmanuel for the last 3 years and invited 12 children who could not be placed with family for the holidays, to come to Cape Town. The children were housed by 9 families from Melkbosstrand, outside of Cape Town. Hearts were opened to these children and they were treated to a visit to the V@A Aquarium at the Cape Town Waterfront, the local Spur, a 3-D movie at Ster Kinekor and a visit to Bugs World to name but a few. Ready for Cape Town. The children travelled 800 km from Middelburg in the Eastern Cape to Melkbosstrand in the Western-Cape. For many it was the very first time at the sea and as the bus came closer they were straining to get their first glimpses of the ocean. The first night the children and their host families were treated to a meal at the local Spur-restaurant. The group of about 46 (visitors and host families), sat in earnest anticipation of the week ahead. Thanks to the owner, Charles Hamman and his team for hosting us and sponsoring the children s meal. Your heart for the Melkbos community is appreciated.

3 First day at the beach. Nothing could keep the children away from the water, even though the Atlantic Ocean is icy. A treasure hunt for chocolate coins was enjoyed on a nearby island that one can walk to when the tide is low. A team from Pinnacle marketing visited the children at the beach and brought individualised gifts for every visitor as well as for the children back in Middelburg. Pinnacle also sponsored the rental of the bus - a much appreciated On the first evening the girls were treated to a mini spaevening and a teaching on sexual purity. The boys had a bbq with a few of the fathers and all 3 teenagers re-dedicated their lives to the Lord. The little ones were treated to baking and a fun-filled teaching on the Tabernacle. The children were treated to a visit to the Aquarium at Cape Town s Waterfront.. Thank you to the Aquarium for subsidising the tickets and for your attentive care

It was a first for most of the children By the final day all of the boys and one brave girl were in wetsuits on body boards like real professionals. Some of the girls collected shells to string crosses for their rooms back home and the three little ones were treated to an exiting morning at the game park, Bugs World. Matthew But Jesus said ``suffer little children, forbid them not to come unto me, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven What an incredible experience and challenge this week has been for me with the arrival of my guest from Middelburg. Despite my broken Afrikaans Esakhle and I bonded quickly and by the end of her fist evening in I had unwittingly turned her into a techno monster by introducing her to a camera ``let s take a selfie Esakhle loved showing all the photos of herself and her friends to anyone willing to look. Esakhe s week ranged from spending a day at the beach exploring rock pools for hidden treasure to enjoying a day at the aquarium. Another day was spent baking cookies followed by movies. Being able to share these experiences with her best friend, Caroline made it even more special. Those two girls were so inseparable that Amelia and I had to organize slumber parties for the girls. It was wonderful to watch them entertain themselves and my family singing and dancing while my son DJ ed for them. Watching them play Barbie was so special. Best of all Esakhe and Caroline loved the sense of freedom swimming gave them. This week has again reminded me how much we as a community have to offer with little effort yet what a huge impact and blessing it has on the lives of others. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.

6 The Lord laid it on my heart to become involved with the children from the Emmanuel Home when they came to Melkbos for Easter Holidays. Before the group arrived, we got together to pray for this holiday event. As we sat down on Saturday afternoon to pray, I knew the Lord meant business. I had goose bumps from the top of my head down to my little toes and I felt His presence. The scripture that came to mind at that moment was Isaiah 61 and I shared it with the group as we prayed. We spoke about God s love and how everybody collectively had a sense that this week with the kids was about LOVE. One of the ladies in the group shared Psalm 27:10 though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me, which was not only for the children, but also for each one of us who would be working with the kids during the week ahead. Each one of us has an area or areas in our lives where we feel orphaned, where we may believe a lie that God has forgotten about us and where we do not experience love. On Tuesday afternoon, I arrived at my Marthe s house to help set up for the 10 little children that we would have over for an evening of play, messy biscuit baking, decorating cupcakes and some teaching on the Tabernacle. We had 3 young boys from Emmanuel included in this group of kids. I had met all 3 boys earlier in the week and my heart was deeply touched. Whilst setting up for the teaching on the tabernacle, I felt God s presence settling over the living room. When we got to the teaching about the Holy place, we explained the table of the showbread and we prepared to serve communion after telling the kids about Jesus becoming the offering that replaced Old Testament offerings which would then allow us free access into the Holy of Holies. God s presence was tangible. God was about to rock my foundations and change not only my world view, but more importantly also my GOD VIEW. I looked at the 3 little boys in front of me as we prepared to take communion. Their ages range between 5 and 7 years old. As we took communion, my heart broke for these little boys and I asked God how do we love them enough Lord, they are so broken? We ushered the kids into the Holy of Holies and let all of them lie under a table which we covered with cloths. We dimmed the lights and played worship music. I reached for my IPad and clicked as the Spirit prompted the song was What love is this by Kari Jobe. As I stretched out my hands in prayer over these kids, God reminded me of the picture of the cross that I took on the beach the day before as these words played: You never change, you are the God you stay a while When I'm afraid you calm and still my beating heart You stay the same, when hope is just a distant thought You take my pain and you lead me to the cross What love is this, that you gave your life for me And made a way for me to know you And I confess you're always enough for me you're all I need God was ministering to these children and to all of us. God asked me a question as I heard these words and I saw His cross. The question was Lona, do you understand My love? and I said Yes Lord. The answer to my question came. Love them, just like I love you. In an instant I knew better than ever before, that we receive our greatest blessings, most abundant joy, and often significant healing when we open our Spirits to the Lord and allow Him to minister to us but it does not end there. We also receive when we GIVE when we are obedient to share that word of encouragement, to intercede when God tells us to do so, to walk alongside somebody that God shows us to do that. We are all called to ministry every minute of every day and God releases the fullness of His Joy in our lives when we obey Him and humbly make ourselves available to do His work.
