2 (12 August) I am a self-taught-mother-inspired poet. I am best friends with my pen and paper. I journal and sometimes find myself scribbling poems. Those who have seen my work have begged to share what I have done with the world so I guess, as personal as some of it is, I am now old enough to be nude with my thoughts and feelings: -) I am No2 of 4 girls. I call them my c'stars. My father passed in 2006 and my mother is the wind that carries me. I am single with no dependants. I love living: -) My favourite saying is 'MAKE IT COUNT' 1

3 I'M Still My Father's Child When I lost my father I put myself under the fatherless, but Now I know he had to go for me to realise that I ve always been blessed with two fathers When I lost my father I thought everybody you love is bound to leave But now I know he was just here for a purpose and he had to go For me to realise that I have a Father that will never leave nor forsake me When I lost my father I thought it was the end of what we had, but Now I realise that our relationship was a parable. He has to leave For me to practice what he taught me with my eternal Father When I lost my father I thought nobody will ever fill his space, but He had to leave for me to know my Heavenly Father For us to have a close relationship that we have now When I lost my father I though God had taken him away from me, but Now I understand that he had to go for me To remain my Father s child forever. I AM MY FATHER S CHILD 2

4 Most Times It's True Everybody thinks I am strong Some admire me for having it all together Most think I have it figure out Normally I believe it Most times it s true I do know what I do not want I do know what I m good for I do know what I m worth I do know what I m made of Most times it s true People see my glory but They don t know my story Could they be afraid? Afraid to know what I d rather not live with? Could they be shallow? Too shallow to want to be part of a greater picture> Most times it s true Amazing Grace, how great Thou art My saving Grace set me free Is that all it s about? Could it be about not wanting to face the truth? Could it be my way of keeping Sihle safe? Safe from things I don t want to face? Most times it s true. 3

5 The Beautiful Me I am so beautiful. I glow When I walk the streets People wonder about me, They want to know who I am What makes me Why I radiate I am so beautiful. I know When they set standards for beauty I tell them that I am fearfully And wonderfully made So there can be never be more than me I leave them tongue-tied I am so beautiful. I m blessed When people see me they don t The inside beauty that I have Envelops my whole being So they see but they don t I leave them wondering I am so beautiful. I m complete The sight of the ocean, A bed of roses, Any colour diamond can never compare. So you ask what makes her It s all God s glory I AM SO BEAUTIFUL, I AM GOD S MASTERPIECE 4

6 The Me I Have Become A lot of things define the person I was. I am not going to dwell on that cos I have buried the old me and everything that came with her The only thing that I use from her is what can be helpful for the new me I do believe that everything I was, and All the things I went through were ingredients to make me THE ME I HAVE BECOME The me I have become has left Egypt Has crossed the Red Sea Has spent her time in the wilderness Has crossed her River Jordan Has smelt and seen the Promised Land. Belongs to the Promised land, and will do Everything and anything never to leave The me I have become has been chosen Has been saved Has been brought into light Has been blessed and Has been loosened The me I have become knows how to count it all joy Knows how to keep the faith Knows how to be calm in raging storms Knows how to believe Knows how to be tolerant, loving and accepting The me I have become understands that she was born for a purpose A purpose bigger than herself. Created to be somebody, and she understands that She is already God s best. The me I have become is the me I was born for. 5

7 To Do And To Be To love without the urge to hold back To trust without the fear of disappontment To give without the anticipation of rejection To embrace without the anxiety of breaking To feel without holding back To believe without doubt To open up without a shield To receive without losing To be rewarded for nothing To be loved for self To be kept for a purpose To be anointed for everything To be filled with joy To be surrounded with blessings To be covered with glory To be shielded with love To DO and to BE Is what I ve learnt By DOing Your Will, and BEing Your Child I love you Jesus. You are my best friend indeed My Saviour and my Lord 6
