Beginning on Sunday, March 4, our church will begin to stream our 8:30 a.m. worship service through Facebook Live on our new Facebook page. We are placing the live stream on our public Facebook page instead of our closed Facebook group so that our community can be blessed by, and attracted to, our worship services. We also hope that by streaming the service our shut-ins and those experiencing illness can keep connected with our church family. If you are out of town for an event, we hope that you can watch or listen to the live services in your hotel room, at the ballfield or in your car on the way home. After the service streams, it will be immediately uploaded so that it can be watched anytime during each Sunday but, for several reasons, we will eventually remove the video from the page. 5 KIDS MINISTRY Renee Scales or VBS 2018 IS SHIPWRECKED: RESCUED BY JESUS! JUNE It s time to get started & we need volunteers to help with arts & crafts, teaching, games, and decorating! KIDS CELEBRATING EASTER 2018 AT MADISON UMC Palm Sunday Processional ALL children are invited to process with palms before each service on Sunday, March 25. Meet in the Fellowship Hall at 8:15 a.m. for the 8:30 a.m. service and at 10:30 a.m. for the 10:45 a.m. service. 4 th & 5 th Graders We will go to Kosciusko United Methodist Church for their Easter Passion Play on Thursday, March 29. We will leave from the big parking lot across from the new Education Building at 5:00 p.m. and return around 10:30/11:00 p.m. Bring blankets, jackets, and folding chairs. The play is outside! We will need adult volunteers to go with us! Each child MUST be registered by March 21. Each child will also need a signed Activity Participation Form. If you have questions, call Ms. Reneé ( ). 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd Graders Let s play glow in the dark games & put together the story of Holy Week. We will meet in the Multi-purpose Room from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28. Kids will need to wear a white t-shirt & tennis shoes! 2 ½ & 3 Year Olds We will find out What is Easter? at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 31 in the KIDS Hall. Bring an Easter snack to share & join us for fun, crafts, & games! We will finish with an Easter Egg Hunt. Each child will need to bring one dozen age-appropriate treat filled eggs to the Church Office no later than Thursday, March 29. Please put the eggs in a bag with the child s name and age on it! Don t forget that the Church Office closes at 4:30 p.m. Parent volunteers are needed (renee@madisonumc.org or ) 4 Year Olds & K5 s We will learn about The Parable of the Lily! 6 ADULT MINISTRY Rev. Ben Butler or DELTA GRACE WEEKEND MISSION TRIP (APRIL 13-14, 2018) We are organizing a work team to serve Delta Grace on Saturday, April 14, with the option to go up a day earlier, Friday, April 13, for those who would like to sleep there and avoid the Saturday morning drive up. Or, you can drive up on Saturday. Church vans will be provided. Delta Grace is a 2 hour drive from Madison. This is a family friendly organization. Anyone from age 7 to 97 can attend; so consider making it a family affair! (All minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult). We have another great opportunity for you or your family to show your commitment to discipleship by serving those in need in Sunflower, MS. Delta Grace is a non-for-profit, multidenominational, faith-based organization that matches mission teams with those in need of minor home repairs. A project manager is assigned to oversee the work at the homes and assist the teams as needed. To sign up go to select Missions, scroll down and look for Delta Grace on the right side of screen. Part of MUMC s Delta Grace team from January 2018 On Sunday, March 25th (Palm Sunday), our church with be hosting a Rise Against Hunger Event. In 1998, envisioning a world without hunger, United Methodist pastor, Ray Buchanan, founded Stop Hunger Now. In 2017, Stop Hunger Now was rebranded Rise Against Hunger, whose goal is to end world Hunger by 2030! Our church hopes to pack 20,000 meals! We will begin at 9:30 in the CLC and continue through the Sunday School hour. We need volunteers! The more we have, the more quickly we can accomplish our goal. Packing is easy and anyone from can participate. You will receive instructions the morning of the event and there are different stations needed, some standing and some seated. Please come and help whenever you can and for however long you can. 7 ADULT MINISTRY Rev. Ben Butler or CALLING ALL ANGELS!! Just because you are not on a Kairos Outside team doesn t mean you can t serve. Kairos Outside is a weekend retreat for women whose lives are affected by incarceration. The next weekend is March If you would like to serve in the background (for 4-hour increments throughout the weekend), please join us. Men and women are needed. WALKING WITH OTHERS TOWARD MATURITY IN DISCIPLESHIP Are you someone with small group experience or hungry to be a part of a trusted group to grow in faith with others? Is God calling you not only to maturity in your faith, but to walk with others and invest in their growth as they invest in yours? Though challenging, does the idea of being mutually accountable with others for your spiritual journey and next steps with Jesus Christ somehow attract you? If so, please contact Ben Butler (ben@madisonumc.org, or ) to talk about being involved in a Covenant Group that is intended to help the group members grow personally and to enable MUMC to expand opportunities for others to do the same. THE CHANCEL CHOIR WELCOMES EASTER VOICES! Join with the choir to celebrate our Lord s resurrection! This is a wonderful opportunity for those who are unable to sing year round. Easter singers should begin attending rehearsals on Wednesdays. The choir meets from 7:00pm following the WAM Bible studies. MUMM S FRANK WILSON SCHOLARSHIPS The Madison United Methodist Men (MUMM) are pleased to announce their tenth annual program for the award of the Frank Wilson college scholarships to two young men who are members of our church. Applicants must graduate from high school no later than August 2018, with a grade point average of 3.0 or above, and have participated in church, school and community programs. Applications are available in the church office. This year the scholarships will be for $3, All men of the Church are invited to participate in this project for our young men.
