2 Worship Team News Feb : Representatives will attend National Worship Conference in Carrollton March 2-30: Service Evaluation forms will be extended to congregation Services will be held for Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter March 30: 10:45AM Worship in Song Frances will welcome any music suggestions Axe Game and Movie Night The next Axe Movie and Game night is February 28th at 6:30 PM in the gym! AAA Ministry Announcements Trip Time Our next trip is on February 26th to the Interurban Museum in Plano with lunch to follow.we will take the van if enough people go. Next Meeting The 10th of March will be a regular meeting; lunch: barbecue sandwiches; program: Linda Freeland doing songs of the twenties. 3 Alfred Lee Alfred Lee is inviting the people of Axe, their family and friends to attend his concert on Saturday, March 8th from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at Carrollton Plaza Arts Center, 1115 Fourth Avenue, Carrollton, Texas Music, Music, Music! will consist of familiar Christian hymns, patriotic songs, show tunes from movies and broadway musicals, plus a couple of his own compositions. This is a fund raiser to help defray the cost of bringing Alfred s parents to America for the first time. Tickets are $18 at the door, but pre-sale price is $15. Also available at a price of $20 each, is his new vocal CD entitled I Sing which contains his interpretations and playing of old hymns. If interested, please contact Brooks Flynt at Cold Drinks Our cold drink machines are filled, serviced, and tested once a week. Currently the proceeds go to the Hearts & Hands (food pantry) ministry. We try to keep all in good working order, however occasional jams will happen. If so, contact Pat Arrington next time you see him. Enjoy a 60 cold drink knowing that you also just bought one pound of food to help the hungry. Every Sunday I am greeted by Amir Alli-Balogun with a huge smile. In his hand he carries his skateboard. I always get very excited because I know he will take the time to teach me how to not fall off of it. He is a very loving and sweet boy. Amir is 17 years old in the 11th grade at South Garland High School. He loves to hang out around friends and share laughter. Amir enjoys skateboarding and playing soccer when not at youth. Axe Youth News He is a joy to be around and brings great life to the group. His reasoning for being a part of the group and attending is because he loves being around all of the nice people and thinks that the talks we have a fun.what he may not realize and we enjoying having him around us as much. He contributes greatly to our discussions and his responses help us grow closer to God as well. Amir is an ambitious young man who aspires to be an Entrepreneur in life. He has chosen this dream because he would prefer to be his own boss, make his own money, and create freedom in his life. I know that Amir is capable of achieving anything that he puts his mind and heart to. It has been a pleasure getting to know Amir and I am thankful he has plugged into our youth group. Come and join us on Sunday evenings to meet all of these great youth! But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 5 I d e s o f M a rc h Two weeks ago on Sunday morning, we had a Romanian family asking for help outside our sanctuary doors. Pastor Minor and our Hearts & Hands folks jumped in to help. We gave them what assistance and food we could. They needed baby formula for a newborn which we were out of at the time. This was a major concern as we normally stock some formula as well as baby food; both very costly items. The following Wednesday on a weekly trip to the North Texas Food Bank, guess what we found and purchased? You got it right! 9 cases of Similac formula and 8 cases of baby food were waiting for us among piles of other food we needed for our regular customers. Your donations and God s Grace allowed this to happen. Praise to one and thanks to the other. A xe Ta l e n t S h ow Five weeks people. (972) I d e s o f M a rc h Vida Folstadt s daughter, Maroba, said she is finally moving closer to cleaning out her mom s house. She will be hosting an Ides of March Day. She wants those that knew and loved Vida to come by and take one of Vida s treasures. Maroba will be at Vida s house (639 Treasure Rd.) on Saturday March 15th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
