Family Prayer L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. 4:00 pm Mass Entrance Our God is Here 1. Here in this me, here in this place, here we are standing face to face. Here in our hearts, here in our lives, our God is here. Here for the broken, here for the strong, here in this temple we belong. Here in our hearts, here in our lives, our God is here. And we cry: Holy! Holy! Holy are you! We cry: Holy! Holy! Holy and true! Amen, we do believe our God is here. Our God is here. 2. Here in the Word, God is revealed, here where the wounded can be healed. Here in our hearts, here in our lives, our God is here. Here we become what we receive, here in this Eucharis c feast. We are his body, living as one; our God is here. And we cry: By: C. Muglia OCP Publica ons. All rights reserved. Used by permission. It has been a tremendous honor and blessing to serve this parish as choir director for fifteen years, and as a cantor for eighteen, none of which would have been successful without the support and encouragement of Fr. David, Garrett Fried, my husband, Rob, and all the choir members and musicians with whom I have served over the years. 8 Divine Mercy Parish Page 8 at St. Philip Neri Church, 3:00 pm (not a Mass) The Lord sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives Luke 4:18 As Christians we are expected to follow Jesus and imitate His life. As we grow in our faith through reception of the sacraments, attending retreats and scripture studies, we are led by the Holy Spirit to assist others to grow spiritually. The seven spiritual works of mercy are a great guide for us: To instruct the ignorant To counsel the doubtful To admonish sinners To bear wrongs patiently To forgive offenses willingly To comfort the afflicted To pray for the living and the dead St. Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians tells us to strive eagerly for the spiritual gifts while he reminds us that all these gifts are useless unless we exercise them in the spirit of Christ-like love. If I have all faith so as to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing faith, hope and love remain, but the greatest of these is love. Reflection by Anne-Marie Barrilleaux The Missionaries of St. Therese The Missionaries of St. Therese at Divine Mercy Parish are seeking additional members and are asking you to consider joining this parish ministry. Through prayers, contributions and donations, we are able to continue the missionary work of the church, assist clergy and religious in developing countries, as well as donations to Notre Dame Seminary and St. Joseph Abbey in St. Benedict. We also aid needy parishes in the New Orleans area develop more adequate catechetical programs and obtain religious education materials. The Missionaries of St. Therese meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Community Center. The next meeting is scheduled for February 19th. Our meeting consists of prayer and sharing. Everyone is welcomed to find out more about our ministry. Please consider joining us at this meeting. If you have any questions, please call Sherryl Clements at God is rich in mercy... Ephesians 2:4
