Family Prayer L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and human dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. 8:30 am Mass Entrance Alleluia, Hearts to Heaven and Voices Raise 1. Alleluia, alleluia! Hearts to heaven and voices raise: sing to God a hymn of gladness, sing to God a hymn of praise. He, who on the cross a vic m, for the world's salva on bled, Jesus Christ, the King of glory, now is risen from the dead. 2. Now the iron bars are broken, Christ from death to life is born, glorious life, and life immortal, on this holy Easter morn. Christ has triumphed, and we conquer by his mighty enterprise: we with him to life eternal by his resurrec on rise. 3. Christ is risen, Christ, the first fruits of the holy harvest field, which will all its full abundance at his second coming yield: then the golden ears of harvest will their heads before him wave, ripened by his glorious sunshine from the furrows of the grave. 4. Christ is risen, we are risen! Shed upon us heavenly grace, rain and dew and gleams of glory from the brightness of thy face; That, we with our hearts in heaven, here on earth may frui ul be, and by angel hands be gathered, and be ever, Lord, with thee. 5. Alleluia, alleluia! Glory be to God on high; to the Savior who has gained the victory; to the Spirit, fount of love and sanc ty: Alleluia, alleluia! to the Triune Majesty. God is rich in mercy... Ephesians 2:4 By: C. Wordsworth Public Domain. Used by permission. Offertory There is a Redeemer 1. There is a redeemer, Jesus, God's own Son; Precious Lamb of God, Messiah, Holy One. Thank you, O my Father, forgiving us your Son and leaving your spirit ll the work on earth is done. 2. In the telling of our hopes, we saw him. In the burning of our hearts, we saw the Lord. At the meal he took the bread and then he blessed it, broke it, offered it. In the breaking of the bread, We saw him! Suddenly our eyes were opened, and we knew he was alive! 2. We set out to find his friends to tell them. We went to Jerusalem to tell them; and with joy we told them,

3 April 21, 2019 Easter Sunday Page 3 "We have seen the Lord!" And as we were speaking there, he stood among us, blessed us, said to us, "Now my peace I leave with you." We saw him! Suddenly our eyes were opened, and we knew he was alive! 3. But then we became afraid without him. In the darkened room we stayed without him, wai ng for the One he said that he would send. Then the Spirit of the Lord came down upon us, filling us, changing us, giving us the strength to say: We saw him! Suddenly our eyes were opened, and we knew he was alive! 4. We ran out into the street to tell them, everyone that we could meet, to tell them, "God has raised him up and we have seen the Lord!" We took bread as he had done and then we blessed it, broke it, offered it. In the breaking of the bread, We saw him! Suddenly our eyes were opened. There within our midst was Jesus, and we knew he was alive!. In the breaking of the bread, He is here with us again, and we know he is alive! By: M. Ward 1986.World Library Publica ons. Your gi of love they crucified, they laughed and scorned him as he died; the humble King they named a fraud, and sacrificed the Lamb of God. 3. 8 Divine Mercy Parish Page 8 EASTER SUNDAY Christ is risen from the dead! Easter Sunday, a day like no other! Christ s suffering is over, his triumph over evil is here! Despite his repeated teachings that he would be killed and would rise from the dead, the disciples cannot quite believe the evidence before their eyes but instead gather together and hide in fear from the authorities. In the evening Jesus enters through the closed door and reveals to them his glorified body saying, Peace be with you. All their doubts are forgiven and Jesus empowers them by saying, Receive the Holy Spirit. (John 20:21-22) May we try to emulate his love by forgiving those who have hurt us in any way, and today, breathe in the gift of the Holy Spirit and breathe out his love on everyone. Happy Easter! Reflection by Anne-Marie Barrilleaux Bilingual Office Volunteers Needed Please call the parish office at to check available openings. Divine Mercy Altar Auxiliary The Altar Auxiliary prepares the worship environment for the Sunday Eucharist and the major feasts and seasons. The auxiliary is comprised of volunteers dedicated to serving the Lord and Divine Mercy Parish through involvement in one or more of the following committees: Linens, Plants, Décor and Housekeeping. The Altar Auxiliary would love to welcome new members who would have a talent or interest in making our worship space beautiful. Call the Church Office at to volunteer to help. Everyone at LIFE TEEN and Edge wishes you Easter blessings! As a LIFE TEEN author says, If the Resurrection does not fill us with incredible joy, we must prayerfully ask why not. At LIFETEEN and Edge, we discuss ideas that the LIFE TEEN author questions. We discuss how we can bear witness to someone we hardly know. And our witness flows from our relationship that is our prayer. There is NO life night tonight. Enjoy the incredible joy of the Resurrection as you deepen your relationship with Jesus. LIFE TEEN meets on Sundays after 6pm Mass until 8:45 PM in the Community Center. This Weekend No Life Night for Easter Edge meets on Tuesdays from 6:30pm-7:45pm at SEAS. Apr 23 No Edge Night for Easter Break Apr 30 Oxygen (A Night on Vocations) The goal of this Edge Night is for the youth to come to an understanding of different vocations and what it looks like to live out each vocation. Next Weekend Filled First (Receiving & Living Divine Mercy) Both giving and receiving the works of mercy bring about the presence of God. When we show mercy to others, people are cared for, physically and spiritually, and God s presence is made known to them. When we receive mercy we are cared for and God s presence is made known to us. Titus 4:4-5 But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. God is rich in mercy... Ephesians 2:4

Efesios 2:4
