The parish will receive your contribution, even if you are out of town or out of state. If you are interested, please stop by the Parish Office to complete an authorization form. During exposition, Jesus cannot be left unattended. Adoration = ONE hour. There are 10 hours of Adoration on Friday and 2 hours on Monday. Pastoral Care to the Sick and Homebound Your Help is Needed! Is the Holy Spirit calling you to bring Christ to those unable to attend Mass? Our Ministry Team goes into homes, group homes, and Honor Health Hospital 7 days a week. We consist of volunteer Eucharistic Ministers from Sts. James, Luke and Thomas More parishes. However, many of us are elderly, have health problems, don't drive, and need YOU to come share this most precious gift from God-the opportunity to take His Only Son to those people who cannot come to Him! Training is provided only a tender, compassionate heart and love of Christ and His fellow followers are pre-requisites. Please consider this request for help! Call Joan for information. WHY REGISTER??? Being a registered, active, participating member of a Parish, is important when you need to Baptize, Sponsor a Child for Sacraments, get Married...and Funerals as well. For parents of children enrolled in Catholic Schools, in order to receive the school reduced Catholic tuition rate, your family needs to meet the criteria set by the Parish for being a registered, active, participating member. The definition of a registered, active, participating member, includes attending Mass regularly, as well as contributing with an envelope to the Offertory along with supporting the ministry life of the Parish. Rummage Ministry This week the Rummage Ministry will be serving in Donuts. Rummage is the biggest fundraiser for St James and is always in need of help. Please stop by to say hello and learn how what you can do to help with the work that they do. Market on the Move St. James April 22, am to 11am Market on the Move is here every 4th Saturday of the month. Part 4 of a 4 Part Series God in His infinite wisdom did not intend for man to live in isolation. The proof of that is in Genesis (2:18). When God saw that Adam was alone, He said It is not good for man to be alone, let us make a helpmate for him. When we do not show mercy to others, we isolate ourselves from our fellow man. And by extension, we isolate ourselves from our God. Remember what Jesus said, Whatever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me. It is therefore fitting that we are at all times merciful to one another, and in doing so, we will actually be in closer relationship with God. Remember our Lord s command to let your light shine before men, in order that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. (Mt 5:16) I demand from you deeds of mercy which are to arise out of love for me. You are to show mercy to your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse yourself from it. (Diary 742) These deeds of mercy are to be accomplished by three means: our actions, our words, and our prayers. THE CORPORAL WORKS OF MERCY Feed the hungry Give drink to the thirsty Clothe the naked Shelter the homeless (Did you take in someone left homeless?) Comfort the imprisoned (Not all prisons are physical jails) Visit the sick Bury the dead THE SPIRITUAL WORKS OF MERCY Admonish sinners Instruct the uninformed (Share what you know about Jesus) Counsel the doubtful Comfort the sorrowful Be patient with those in error (Don t curse other drivers) Forgive offenses Pray for the living and the dead No matter how much we may be hurting and think our own life is troubled, there is always someone worse off who needs an act of mercy from us. One small act can change someone s entire life. As we go about our daily lives we should be looking for opportunities in which we can practice the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. And remember, the best way to GET a blessing is to BE a blessing to someone else. A blessing only becomes a blessing when you give it away. This ministry crochets or knits beanies, buntings, afghans, etc. for different charities. If you don t know how to knit or crochet, we ll teach you. We have extra Knitting Looms and yarn o share. Please join us. We are in need of volunteers to assist with the Neighborhood Fair. There are many available options to select from: event setup, parking attendant, working at the kids games, inflatable's and other attractions, St. James Food Booth, maintenance and much more.
