2 The Trumpet Page 2 By Pastor Bill Grant There s much ado and debate about the government s bailout plan and the president s stimulus package and, of course, there are those who are absolutely sure they will work. Others are equally sure they will not do any good at all. Yet people are missing something crucial. I recently saw a video by Dunnlight Inc. that very aptly addresses where the direction of our concerns should really be these days in a humorous, politicized way. What follows with some modification on my part is the message in the video. Sometimes we need reminding. Blessings, Bill There has been a lot of talk about the bailout plan recently. The plan has been in place and unchanged for over 2000 years. Yet many are still uncertain or unaware of the plan at all. This plan is for everyone regardless of race, citizenship, age, or financial status. While some have questioned whether those who have acted poorly or irresponsibly should be entitled, it must be pointed out that none of us is entitled to this relief. The sixty-six books that define the plan are specific and easy to understand. If you admit that you are responsible for your actions and acknowledge it is the only way, then this plan is for you. Many have chosen to ignore this plan, and feel for whatever reason that they do not need this bailout, but it must be noted that those who reject it will fail. Some also suggest this plan comes at too high a price. It is true that no one is able to afford this bailout, but rest assured the fee has been paid. The price was great more costly than you can imagine. This sacrifice was made by a third party on our behalf. The plan was conceived and proposed by a non-partisan father and son team that used every resource in heaven and earth available to them. If you have not availed yourself of this bailout plan, you are urged to contact any official representative of the Office of Eternal Security to obtain the relief you need. The sooner you obtain the security being offered, the easier things will be. Church Mouse Sez: Statistics show that the longer you wait to accept this help, the less likely you will realize this is indeed the only way. There are no forms, no web sites, no waiting. Complete copies of the plan can be obtained at most major bookstores and churches. You can even find them in the nightstand drawers of most major hotels. Time is of the essence: while the benefits of this plan are permanent, the opportunity is not. There is more safety with Christ in the most troubled and stormy waters, than without Christ in the calmest waters

Worship Ministries Report April Schrokosch, Creative Arts Director, is working with a cast and staff to present an Easter Play called Cross Purposes. The play will be presented on Sunday evening, April 5th at 7 p.m. The play was written as a low profile production with minimal characters, staging, costuming and props. However, the message is booming and fast paced as it take us, the audience through Holy Week, using drama, music and scripture. Here s what we are asking of you: Prayer for the cast: good health and ability to learn lines and an audience that will be affected by the vivid message of the last week of Jesus life. Cross Purposes will be a perfect evangelism tool to invite someone who is skeptical to God s truth, someone who at this point isn t connecting to the church. Think of those in your families, those who live around you, and those who you work with as you invite them to this Sunday night drama event. It s never too late to join us in leading worship. Our choir may be the starting point that you can use to develop singing gifts. Join us in a fun, spirited rehearsal this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Two important events : Ted Hansen will lead worship with a team on Sunday morning, March 8 th. Ted is a talented young man with a beautiful voice and a heart for worship. The second event will be a Family Worship on March 29 th, similar to the terrific service held at the end of November that launched our Advent Season and highlighted our mission endeavors. around the globe by equipping believers to share their faith. Millions have been trained and they, in turn, have trained millions of others. This spiritual multiplication is why EE has been so successful. Equally exciting is that, every year, millions of people make a profession of faith in Christ through EE and hundreds of churches experience tremendous growth. XEE is the newly developed program to provide a new and effective way for Gen X and Y leaders to equip people in personal, relational evangelism. Through XEE, people become the type of witnesses that Christ intends for us all to be. XEE trains people to really connect with those around them and build stronger relationships. Using this platform, it s easier for someone to share the Good News simply and confidently. Ultimately, we want to help people lead their friends to a relationship with Jesus. I have attended the training and I want to work with a small, committed group of you at El Camino Baptist. In a few short days of training, you can have a part of changed lives resulting in changed El Camino Baptist Churches! It s no secret that the church is the key to the Great Commission. Once lay leaders are trained in EE, you re ready to take off as you then equip the other members. I will make my first presentation at our regularly scheduled Bible Fellowship Group Huddle at the Rienks home on Saturday, March 21st at 5 p.m./djb Connection Ministries I urge you to keep visualizing small groups at El Camino. Remember, small groups provide the best way to minister to one another and provide ministry to the community and also provide the fastest route for new attenders to get plugged in. 4 The Trumpet Page 4 Every Easter, we honor the l i f e a n d w o rk o f Annie Armstrong ( ) when we give to the annual offering for North American missions named after her. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union, for which she served as the first corresponding secretary. Annie believed in Christ with all her heart, but it was her hands that expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great amount of time typing and handwriting letters in support of missions. Many of these letters were quite lengthy and all were filled with conviction that more could and should be done in our mission efforts. In 1893 alone, she wrote almost 18,000 letters! Annie also never hesitated to use her hands to reach out to hug a child or distribute food and clothing and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own Bible as she studied to know how best to share Gods love with others. And, most important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to intercede for the missionaries and for those they were helping discover Christ. Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. 5 The Trumpet Page 5 Women s Ministry of El Camino W o m e n W h o C a r e In the spirit of Annie Armstrong the Women s ministry of El Camino Baptist are reaching out to the homeless. They are collecting essential care items for the Union Gospel Mission for distribution to the homeless. Collections will end on March 15th. On March 17th you are invited to a church-wide potluck dinner in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm. We will be assembling the bags for distribution. toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer, deodorant, shaving cream, razors, socks, energy bars, lip balms, lotion, and first aid supplies. Despite the fact that even the teachers in the orphanages petitioned on our behalf, the Director of Social Services is adamant that only higher education and the Orthodox Church can come in to work with the children; they don t need outside people. Although the ministry is shut down here, we were encouraged by the fact that we were obviously reaching more than just the children. Homeless Feeding: This started in January when the orphanage work was closed. We re feeding up to 12 now at a cost of about $32 a feeding. We ve learned a way of getting much of the food wholesale, which will help us to feed more for the same amount. Some names to pray for are: Laura, Nina, Sasha, Sergey, Galya, Luda, and Phillipa. New Church Start: This is moving forward but slowly. We ve connected with a new couple (a Messianic Jewish Dutchman married to a Ukrainian, which seems promising. Bible Studies: We ve started a women s Bible study on Monday nights that is going well with attending. Pray for this; several of the women are not Christians. Rehabilitation: A local pastor who is not part of the closed group here has offered to give 20 acres of land to us. We have asked him to wait 2 years on this so he can see our integrity and commitment. The land has a number of buildings and barns on it. They are all in need of repair, but give us much flexibility in making things the way we need them to be. The land will support orchards and farming, which is a huge benefit. We think it will take about $10,000 - $20,000 to get one building remodeled before winter, and about another $20,000 for operations the first year. New Contacts: We ve recently been contacted by a Peace Corps volunteer about a project he s interested in. More to come. Mark & Laura Medals For Jesus Pastor Hakim got up slowly and began to remove his shirt and dark jacket. It was the same jacket he wore eight days ago when terrorists attacked him. His wife gingerly steadied him as he slid his fingers over the white bandages covering three bullet holds. These are my medals, he told us. The attack occurred on Sunday morning. Pastor Hakim was driving in his hometown in the Middle East. That s when he heard, STOP! The shout floated on the barrel of a gun. Hakim knew the three men standing in front of him. They were terrorists. At a nearby building these men questioned others asking them if they know where The Christian was. Hakim knew to stop meant death. Just before, a church leader had stopped. He ended up dead. Of the three men who pastured his church, one had been assassinated, another had fled. Hakim was the only one who remained. The Son of God will protect me, the lone pastor thought. But still, Hakim did not want to stop. So he floored the gas and kept driving. The shots rang out, six in all. One went through his back and out his chest. Then another. Then one hit his By Gary Lane and Voice of the Martyrs Staff arm. Another zoomed past his head. Pastor Hakim kept on driving. He looked down and saw blood. He stopped for assistance. He was less than two football fields away from his attackers. The terrorists fled away in a getaway car. Authorities took Hakim to the hospital. The Muslim doctors asked me, What are you doing with your life? The way the bullets went in you (missing organs and major blood vessels), this is a miracle. Hakim and his wife asked that we not identify them or where they live for their protection. ( VOM
