Just a "Heads-up" about next week - - I will be traveling and away from a computer next Wednesday, so next week the newsletter will go out on THURSDAY vs Wednesday. Brethren, according to the Code & Constitution you are ineligible to hold office or vote if your current year's dues have not been paid. Accordingly, our new Grand Master MWB Michael Smith is expecting us to check Blue Lodge and York Rite/Scottish Rite dues cards prior to brothers being admitted to our meetings. If you're attending an appendant body, you have to show an up-to-date dues card for that body AND a current dues card for any prerequisite body (such as Blue Lodge). For example, if attending York Rite College, you must show a 2017 dues card for YR College, plus Blue Lodge, plus the York Rite Bodies. Shriners must show a 2017 Shrine dues card AND a 2017 Blue Lodge dues card. Don't get turned away from your meeting! Get your 2017 dues paid, and your 2017 dues cards into your wallet ASAP. Full details are on the Masters and Wardens website at: Sick & Distressed: WB Joe Santua of Jacksonboro has ongoing heart issues and had surgery yesterday (23 May) at MUSC. Br Gerry Factura of MacArthur Lodge had a fire last week at his house that burned part of his house & yard. WB Barry Klein of Etiwan Lodge remains in the hospital. He is off of the ventilator, but

2 his kidney function remains problematic.while WB Barry is improving, he is still very weak. Barry asks for no visitors or phone calls at this time. Barry and his family continue to express their sincere appreciation for all the prayers and good thoughts. Br Jimmy Bartee of Etiwan Lodge is also at Roper with pneumonia. Br Ari Rom's new son Nathaniel is out of the NICU and is home keeping his parents and sisters awake at night. The parents like it, the sisters not so much. Please keep Sybill (Mrs Phillip) Russell, Archie and Wilma Davis, Ken Russ, G Ray Marsh, Joe Santua, Teddy Driggers, Frank Shealy, Tom Corbin, Rob Varnado, Jerry Sifford, Micah Auld, Barry Klein, Steve Oberg, Jimmy Bartee Mike Kendall's family, Arik Rom's family and Otto Kaske & his family in your prayers. Please do it. 2) Visit another lodge this month (times & places are all in the Trestleboard). 3) Attend the Masters & Wardens Club monthly meeting. If everyone who actually reads this would actually do this we d have attendance back like it was 5-7 years ago, and we would all be enjoying it! Try it, you ll like it! The Masonic Education will focus on his recent trip to the Holy Land. Any Master Mason planning on attending should contact the Scottish Rite and let us know you'll be there so we can have a head count for dinner. The education will begin after the Scottish Rite Bodies conduct a very brief business meeting. Dinner at 6:30 PM, and the Business Meeting at 7:30. Knights of St. Andrew will hold their monthly meeting at 6:00pm in the auditorium. Membership in the Knights of St. Andrew is open to all 32 Masons. Thursday 31May17 - On this day in 1801 the "11 Gentlemen of Charleston" established the first Supreme Council of the Thirty-third Degree, the Mother Council of the World, and declared its existence as the "Scottish Rite" with a motto of Ordo ab Chao (Order from Chaos). It announced a new 33-degree system of high degrees that incorporated all 25 of the French Order of the Royal Secret, and added eight more, including that of 33, Sovereign Grand Inspector General. This new organization declared control of high-degree Masonry in America with its See in Charleston, SC. Coffee & doughnuts at 09:00AM, Degree at 09:30 In celebration of the 300th Anniversary of Freemasonry, the AFM Club of Spartanburg County will confer the Master Mason Degree on one candidate. This Degree will be conferred in Traditional Observance Form with candle lights and classical music.
