3 Lectionary Scripture Study: What a wonderful year we had reflecting on the Sunday Scriptures. We will not meet again until the second week of September, when we will resume our Tuesday mornings meetings at 8:00 a.m. in the Rectory. All are very welcome!!! RCIA: What does it mean to be a Catholic? Have you or someone you know ever asked that question? Have you ever thought about becoming a Catholic or learning more about the Catholic faith? We welcome inquiry and are happy to meet with anyone to offer suggestions about how those questions can become reality. Attention Parents: Have you recently had a baby baptized? Has your child recently received their First Holy Communion, your teen, the Sacrament of Confirmation? Are you aware more than ever of the awesome task of raising a child in the Catholic faith? Sometimes parents, for one reason or another, have neglected their own faith life, the life that is passed on from one generation to the next. Is it time for you to consider becoming a Catholic, or becoming more fully initiated into the Catholic Church by your reception of First Holy Communion or Confirmation? TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME Join fellow members The Church of Saint Timothy on Saturday, August 19 th, for a night out at the new Dunkin Donuts Park to watch the Hartford Yard Goats take on the Reading Fightin' Phils at 6:35 p.m. There will be fireworks following the game. Summer break! Weekly: Toiletries for Shelters, Socks for Shelters, Food for Catholic Worker House (CWH) Next Month Look Ahead: August Weekly Collections: Toiletries for Shelters, Socks for Shelters, Food for Catholic Worker House (needed even more during the summer months when schools are not providing breakfast or lunch to neighborhood kids). Catholic Worker House Weekly Donations Request: Summer is the time of year when the CWH neighborhood families need food more than ever as summer vacation means no school breakfasts or lunches for the children. Items needed are cereal, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, and tuna fish. Shelter Weekly Donations Request: Summer is the time of year when the shelters especially need deodorants for both women and men (regular size or travel size). Please consider this need if you would like to help the homeless this summer. Laudato Si (LS): On Care for Our Common Home: Help People Impacted by Climate Change: LS 25. Many of the poor live in areas particularly affected by phenomena related to warming, and their means of subsistence are largely dependent on natural reserves and eco-systemic services such as agriculture, fishing and forestry. What You Can Do: Consider making a donation to Catholic Relief Services. They not only provide assistance during natural disasters, but they also have a wide variety of programs that use a holistic approach called integral human development to help people reach their full potential in an atmosphere of peace, social justice, and human dignity. For more information or to make a donation, go to Defending Our Religious Liberty Archbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, Chairman of the U.S. Bishops' Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty, issued a statement encouraging the broadening of the exemption from the HHS mandate. "If issued, these regulations would appropriately broaden the existing exemption to a wider range of stakeholders with religious or moral objections to the mandated coverage not just houses of worship. This not only would eliminate an unwarranted governmental division of our religious community 'between our houses of worship and our great ministries of service to our neighbors,' but would also lift the government-imposed burden on our ministries 'to violate their own teachings within their very own institutions Relief like this is years overdue and would be most welcomed.

4 Thank you Saint Timothy's! sent: Sunday, June 4, 2017 Dear Carolyn [Malon], and Deacon Dennis, We returned last weekend from another difficult but inspiring week of service in Dame Marie, Haiti. At the end of the week we were able to give the very hard working Obstetrician, Dr. Joseph Gravylove and the Haitian Anesthesia staff two Surgical headlamps that your committee and your parish made possible. The smiles on all their faces was a blessing to see, since I had witnessed the anguish several months earlier on the same Obstetrician's face as he fought to save a young mother's life despite not being able to see properly during a complicated delivery. We then traveled back from Dame Marie to Port au Prince. There we met the Haitian Medical Director of the MATH clinics. He is by training a surgeon, and has worked with us in Dame Marie. He was totally flabbergasted at this gift of a headlamp. We took him by complete surprise. The grin on his face was again a site to behold. Please see the attached images below. Feel free to share with whomever you choose. Each of the headlamps cost about 1800.$.The amazing amount of your donations came to this number, so these gifts were totally covered. Please share with your Board and your parishioners, these results of their hard earned donations. The Haitian professional staff, and the community we serve, will long benefit from these exquisite gifts. And they will be in service every day, helping to save lives.
