Lenten studies Each Tuesday in March, at the home of the Edwards-McKenzie family, 32 John Witton Drive pm. The topic this year is salvation, as found in the characters in the film, The Way. All welcome. See Lionel if you need the notes as all the study books have sold. StillPoint reborn Replacing the familiar monthly prayer gathering called StillPoint will be a new activity called Q & A. The revised format will provide for the talking together a number are looking for while retaining the opportunity to pray together. Basically, a set question will be considered together over the first 30 minutes, to be followed by an equivalent time of prayer hence Question and Answer. It is planned to introduce this gathering after Easter, commencing on Wednesday 13 May, and each second Wednesday of the month through to November. 11 am to midday.

2 Helpful contact data To help with the church s pastoral work we will asking congregational members to provide to Lionel and the pastoral care group with key contact details of specified family members. This will be entirely voluntary. However, from time to time we have the need to contact someone in a person s family and it would be helpful to have the right person and their correct contact details. Please think about this. At St Andrews On The Terrace Tuesday 10 March, 12:15 at St Andrew's THEOLOGY IN PAINTING Illustrated walk through and theology behind the Vatican's master artworks. Featuring Sistine Chapel, Stanze di Raffaello and Raphael's Transfiguration by Dr Christopher Longhurst. (See Notice Board for more details) Coming up Presbytery Central gathering next Saturday, 14 March, in Palmerston North. These all day events (2 per year) are open to anyone to attend. Names need to be submitted online so if you are interested please contact Lionel lionel@ngaiounion.org.nz The theme for the day (10 am pm) is Being Christian in our secular society. Guest speakers are Dr Stephen Garner (Laidlaw College) and Rev Ron Hay (from Christchurch). Good Friday service Lionel will be looking for 2 Bible readers and 5 monologue readers. So, if you are here for Easter and count yourself amongst the good readers or dramatic readers then please be ready to volunteer next Sunday. Methodist School of Theology 9-11 April, Whanganui Girls Boarding School. The theme for the school this year is Pastoral Care and Mental Illness. If you are interested in attending watch this space for further details, or speak to Rhonda Svenson. HUB stuff Following the HUB Forum held recently the HUB workgroup is due to meet this week to reflect on the outcomes from forum and to consider where to go from here. The NUC reps on that group are Mark Jeffries, Anne Cuthbert and Lionel. The congregation here will be kept up to date through this representation.

KELVIN CROMBIE Kelvin and Lexie Crombie lived in Israel for nearly twenty-five years. Kelvin was based at Christ Church in the Old City of Jerusalem. He developed an intimate and profound knowledge about the history of the restoration of Israel and particularly the role of the ANZACs in that restoration, and has published a book, documentary video and pamphlets on the subject. Kelvin first became interested in Israel while growing up on a farm in the central wheat belt of West Australia. This interest developed due to the service of uncles in the Middle East as Australian soldiers during the Second World War; and also due to various direct Israeli connections such as an Israeli family on a nearby farm; and the Six Day War in He subsequently went to Israel in 1979 and took up residence in Jerusalem working at a hospital for handicapped children and then an old people s home. Over the years Kelvin has become involved with other ANZAC military heritage and commemoration projects in Israel. He is a participating member of the Association of the Heritage of the First World War, and was one of the initiators of the 2007 Ride of Peace and re-enactment of the 1917 Light Horse charge at Beersheba, and guided the seventy-strong group of horsemen. He has also completed in conjunction with HaTikvah Film Trust a documentary entitled From Exile to Restoration (in Britain, The Destiny of Britain, and in USA, The Cyrus Call) and The Battle for Zion. He has also published a booklet, Journey to Beersheba with the background story to the Battle of Beersheba and the re-enactment, in diary form. The Crombie family lives in Perth, Western Australia.
