5 Thursday Nights in Lent 6:00 Soup and Bread 6:30 Book Discussion Breathing Space-Heidi B. Neumark Each Thursday evening in Lent we will travel through the pages of this memoir of a church s and neighborhood s mutual transition. By the grace of God, hope is restored and lives transformed. Books may be ordered from amazon.com for $ A bulk order will be made from the church on Wednesday, February 18. Contact the church office to place your order. Reviews of Breathing Space This beautiful book, written with insight and gentle humor, breathes wisdom, kindness, and great blessing. Heidi Neumark wrestles with angels and discovers pools of refreshing grace." Thomas G. Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching, Candler School of Theology, Emory University "Heidi Neumark has worked tirelessly to earn the trust of people who have been betrayed constantly in their lives, finding in stories of desperation, poverty, and death, stories of hope and transfiguration. Read this book carefully and let Neumark s commitment and love touch your heart." Ada María Isasi-Díaz, author of En La Lucha: A Hispanic Women s Liberation Theology "Part Dante, part Emily Dickinson, part George Orwell, and all pastor, Reverend Heidi Neumark dares readers to follow her onto tough corners and into harsh places streets of pain and blood and sorrow. This thoroughly modern minister doesn t flinch, and focuses long enough to see what else is there faith, nobility, and, as Robert Pinsky said, something deeper and better than mere success, the triumph of the human spirit." Michael Gecan, IAF Organizer and author of Going Public.
6 Special Offerings for Lent and Easter Ecumenical Good Friday Service April 10 12:00 pm Heritage will host this year s Ecumenical Good Friday Service sponsored by Madison s West Side Clergy Group. At this service we will remember Jesus Passion with reading, reflection and song, as we make our way through the Stations of the Cross. Join us to remember the suffering of our Lord. Easter Breakfast April 12 9 am Heritage Men will again offer a simply scrumptious breakfast on Easter morning in our Fellowship Hall. Please sign up with your family if you wish to attend the breakfast. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt for the children at 9:30, so bring the whole family! A free will offering will be taken to cover costs. Start off your Easter morning right by fellowshipping with the Heritage Church family as we celebrate Christ s resurrection and our inauguration into the family of God. NACCC Lenten Devotionals Our National Association has once again gifted us with a devotional booklet for the Lenten season. Entitled In the Shadow of the Cross, this year s devotional has a short reading, scripture reference and prayer for each day during the Lenten Season. Written this year by NACCC church members and pastors, this devotional provides valuable food for thought during this season of contemplation and reflection. Lenten Devotionals are available free of charge, and are located on the table just outside the sanctuary.
