2 IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE SENIOR WARDEN Effective on or about January 1, 2016 Father Hicks will be appointed our Full-Time Priest In Charge He will be leaving his current employer to follow God s calling to Trinity. This is not a process that Paul or Bev have gone into hastily or without long periods of consideration. I had multiple conversations with Bishop Klusmeyer and I m fully confident in his support for Father Hicks. And, ultimately, I m fully confident in Father Hicks abilities. I share in Father Hicks vision. The process will go something like this: From now until January 1, 2016, Father Hicks will continue to serve part time here at Trinity, as he transitions from his current employer. I d expect to see more and more of Fr. Paul as we get closer to the end of the year. And, his obligations at his current employer are reduced. From January 1, 2016 for a period of up to 2 years, Father Hicks will service as the Full- Time Priest In Charge. This will continue for some time until Bishop Klusmeyer and the Vestry are satisfied with the selection. Typically, this review would occur between the six to eight month mark. At that point, Bishop Klusmeyer would approach the Vestry. If all is well, the Vestry would vote Father Hicks in as our Rector. This entire process continues under the watch of Bishop Klusmeyer. Any issues or concerns should be brought to the Vestry. That s the two paragraph version. Please feel free to see myself and/or Father Hicks for any additional questions or concerns. Bottom-line: I m excited for Trinity, Father Paul, and Beverly. 4 The Budget remains in the black. As we move forward into the 2016 Budget Process, now is the time for input. The Budget Committee is starting to form up. I expect them to start meeting within the next 30 days. Key in their process are our Pre-Paid Pledges. This helps set the foundation for all our activities. Look at what we ve done in 2015 and think about what we can do in Bottom-line: I appreciate everyone s continued support in this area. I would like to thank the Howard E. and Mildred M. Kyle Charitable Foundation of the Dayton Foundation for their $2500 donation. The foundation requested the funds be dispersed to the Scholars Program and Crisis Intervention. And, the Vestry has endorsed. Again, thanks. With the mounting of the spot light, the roof repairs are officially complete. We now move on to the painting and plaster repair. The nursery was painted, and I d like to thank everyone that was a part of that project, in both time and money. We continue to add projects in the Office and Education Buildings. If you see something that needs addressed, please see Dan Thomas our Junior Warden and/or any Vestry Member. Thanks. A reminder about upcoming services on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Also, I want to give a heads up on Adult Education, too. The Holly Trail will be coming to Trinity on December 6, to showcase some of the history of the City of Parkersburg and the older churches. More information on all in the upcoming weeks. I left last month with a Challenge to Serve. I want to reaffirm now is the time. With Father Hicks coming on board, I can feel the energy building. Come be a part. Michael Rauh Senior Warden 5

5 Friends of Elewana Fundraiser Making a Difference The Reverend Zach Drennen The Reverend Zach Drennen will be visiting our area on Thursday, November 12th. Come and hear the updates of his past year in Kenya, progress of the Elewana project, and how it is making a difference in the lives of the young people there. He will share this over dinner at DaVinci s with slides and conversation to help us understand his ministries there. Many of us have had a piece of this ministry through our donations and scholarship aid. Believe me, it will be an evening you will not want to miss! Hopefully Zach s friends from all over the valley will fill the downstairs Fenton room at DaVinci s for this fundraiser. Let s give him a well deserved welcome! Mark your calendars now for 6:00 pm on November 12th! Tickets for this dinner will be available both before and after church - see Art or Linda Bennett or the church office. The cost is $20.00 including tip (dessert extra). Bring your generous hearts and open checkbooks as we help Zach spread his ministry our outreach on another continent! Ticket sales now through November 9th Book Sale Outreach Here are some of the kind words contained in thank you notes from three groups that were recipients of Book Sale funds. National Multiple Sclerosis Society - On behalf of the NMSS, Blue Ridge Chapter, thank you for your gift. In central and western Virginia, West Virginia and seven counties in Kentucky, your donation enables the MS Society to help 6,000 individuals and families affected by MS overcome the daily challenges of this unpredictable and lifelong disease. Please accept our heartfelt appreciation for your partnership with the National MS Society, and for moving us closer to our vision of a world free of multiple sclerosis. Latrobe Street Mission - I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity toward the Latrobe Street Mission. Because of your support, Latrobe Street Mission has begun a successful and effective recovery program called the Grace Project. This recovery program is designed to help people recover from addictions and other life-dominating behaviors. Jason Batten, Director Actors Guild of Parkersburg - Thank you for your generous donation. Your generosity allows our theatre to continue to offer programming to many individuals throughout the valley. I am always amazed, not only by your extreme generosity for area organizations, but also by the precision that you have demonstrated year after year with the book sales. Gary McIntyre, President Paula Sellers, Secretary of the ECW Sunday worship attendance: 8:00~10:30 Sept. 6: 22~51 ( total 76 ) Sept. 13: 15~110 ( total 125 ) Sept. 20: 28~69 ( total 97 ) Sept. 27: 22~57 ( total 79 ) Average Sept Average Sept Food closet: 9 adults, 3 children Crisis Intervention Assistance with : 8 electric bills, 1 gas bill, 5 water bills ( $30 ea. ), prescription 1, 1 monthly bus pass, Parkersburg treatment center 2 CHRISTMAS CHOIR Do you enjoy singing, but don t want to commit to joining the choir yet? Please consider joining our special choir for the midnight Christmas Eve service. Since our college singers will be returning home for the holidays, our Choirmaster Dr. Monek wants to invite Trinitarians and friends to join the Trinity regulars to provide choral music for this important service. And, better yet, it won t take a lot of rehearsal! Rehearsals are scheduled for Dec. 2, 9 and 16, but attendance is not required at every rehearsal. If you re interested, speak to Dan, Cathy or Barbara. 11
6 Jr. Warden s Report On Wednesday, October 21, the roofing company completed the remainder of their work by mounting the new light which will again illumine the east stained glass window of the nave. This new light is much brighter than the three that it replaces and requires significantly less energy to operate! We are now in the process of painting the halls and bathrooms of the education building. The nursery has been painted and the windows washed. Special thanks to Paul Miller, Charlie Culbertson, Forbes Hiehle, Bob Harris and my wife, Margie for their continuing help with the painting project. Special thanks to Larry Tucker for replacing the damaged ceiling tiles in the downstairs hallway and two classrooms upstairs. If you can spare a few hours beginning at 10 AM on Tuesday, your help would be greatly appreciated. There is much to do as we continue our freshening project. As soon as possible, we will move into the kitchen to replace the ceiling tiles and paint the walls. Our project will take a short hiatus during the book sale and then resume the following week. The good news concerning the painting project is that once it is finished, it will be a long period of time before it is necessary to repeat the process. Once again, thanks so much to those who are and will be helping. One more comment on painting...the plaster and painting work in the nave will begin soon. Stay tuned, Dan Thomas, Junior Warden MONDAY FEEDING PROGRAM In the month of September, we served 424 meals, with an average of nine helpers per meal. Program chairman Connie Warren says, If anyone from the congregation would like to bake a dessert such as brownies, cookies, or cakes, we would very much appreciate it, as would our clients. 12 Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday, November 1. Don t forget to set your clocks back one hour (and enjoy an extra hour of sleep!) PARISH NURSE MINISTRY ESSENTIALS OF BEING ACTIVE Being active means allowing your body to practice breathing, stretching and lifting. The more practice your body gets, the better it works. Think about doing things in these three areas: aerobic activity, muscle strength, and stretching. The following Trinitarians are being active at the Wellness Center: Ann Bailey, Reed Belasco, Art Bennett, Charlie & Marion Culbertson, Jim Full, Forbes Hiehle, and Claudia Smith. Julie & Tom Gyongyosi have started Ballroom dance lessons and soon will join Paul and Karen Miller on the dance floor. In nice weather you may find these people on the golf course: Sue Ellen Johnson, Julie Matheney, Terry Cauthorn, Julie Gyongyosi and Loretta McGregor. Our Trinitarian runners are Tom Gyongyosi (pictured below), Becky Alkire and Cara Bowen. Not sure Fr Paul has time to run right now with his responsibilities of attorney and Priest in Charge. Of course many other Trinitarians are active in other areas while working outside the home or in the home, such as house work, keeping up with toddlers, running children to school and community events. Even our choir members are being active expanding their lungs as they sing. Please let me know what you are doing to be active. I apologize to anyone I have missed on the list of active things Trinitarians are doing. Investigate and evaluate the fun things you can do to live more actively. Finding activities that bring you joy will increase the likelihood that you will be active for a lifetime. 13 Nurse Marion
