5 Page 5 CANDLE LIGHTING SERVICE Sunday, December 21, 5:00 pm From the glow of a single candle in the sanctuary, the room becomes aglow with the warmth of Spirit as each person lights their own candle from their neighbors and then passes the light on. There are few services that are as inspirational as the Christmas Candle Lighting Service. Please bring your family and friends. BURNING BOWL SERVICE January 4 11:00 am Sunday, January 4 start your new year with a powerful, symbolic Sunday Service of releasing the limitations of the past and entering freshly into newness. This service will incorporate the rituals of the Burning Bowl. As we reflect on the year that is ending, we may find there are several past happenings which we would like to see resolved, completed, harmonized or forgiven. In this unique Burning Bowl Service we call upon the Spirit of God to cleanse our minds and hearts of judgments, opinions and beliefs that have placed a limit on our Divine heritage of happiness, joy and inner peace. We will make our own personal list of unwanted and unresolved conditions and let the flame of Christ consume them. In their place we remember our oneness with God. GIVING TREE Light House of Clarkston Last day December 14 This year we are helping Light House of Clarkston with a gift card tree. We will be hanging ten $25.00 gift card ornaments on the tree for our congregation to purchase and return the gift cards to the tree. These gift cards will be given to Lighthouse for their Christmas store teen area, which is usually under-stocked with gifts. Last day to return the gift cards is December 14. CANDLE LIGHTING DINNER Sunday, December 21 7:00 pm Olive Garden We will meet at the Olive Garden on Rochester Road just north of Auburn for a delicious meal. We will purchase off the menu with individual bills. Please sign up in the Narthex so we know how many to make reservations for. MOVIE NIGHT Friday, November 14 7 pm Evan Almighty In this comedy, God tells Evan to build an ark. As a newly elected congressman, when he arrives in Washington, D.C. strange things begin to happen. As he actually does start building an ark, his family thinks he s crazy, then comes to believe he might be on to something. God appears to Evan s wife, who is not a believer in her husbands ark project, and tells her that God doesn t give things, he gives the opportunity to get things. Seeing his meaning, she returns and helps her husband finish the ark. The flood comes with an interesting twist, with Evan being vindicated and his family values strengthened. Please sign up in the Narthex.

7 Page 7 PROSPERITY BANK SUNDAYS November 30 and December 28 Many who may be new to the Unity Way of Life may not be aware of the unique program Unity offers to help an individual increase his or her prosperity. Here is hour the PROSPERITY BANK program works: The PROSPERITY BANK idea started at Unity School way back in the 30 s when the Great Depression was at its worst. Many people wrote to Unity School asking for the Daily Word magazine but they did not have the dollar it took to pay for a subscription. Unity recognized that the need was greater than the money involved, so they gave them the subscription. But there is what they also did they designed a little container into which coins could be deposited, wrote some prosperity affirmations on it, called it a PROSPERITY BANK, and sent it along with the gratis subscription. They gave the recipients instructions to use the affirmation printed on it, drop in their coins and when they had accumulated $1.00 to send it to Unity to pay for the subscription. It worked!! So well in fact that the idea would not die when better days came along. Since those days, thousands have been freed from the bondage of lack through the simple use of the PROSPERITY BANK. Anyone who lovingly and faithfully follows these instructions on the bank will begin to see a very definite, positive increase in his or her prosperity and will be giving an extra blessing to the church as well. It is a simple but miraculous technique. Try it for 90 days. Here at Unity Church of Rochester the proceeds we receive from the PROSPERITY BANKS go to beautify our building. PROSPERITY BANKS and instructions are available in the Narthex. The PROSPERITY BANKS can be returned the last Sunday of the month. Thank you, dear friend, for remembering your church home while on vacation or just taking a Sunday off. Your tithe and gifts are so very necessary to keep our church home open, beautiful and waiting for your return. Don t be early! Remember to turn your clocks BACK one hour on Saturday, November 1st before you go to bed. RIDGE DALE PLAYERS Dracula the Musical Sunday, November 23 2 pm This is a delightful spoof with wonderful songs. We will car pool from the church. Tickets are $16, please sign up and pre-pay in the Narthex. Thursday, November 6 7 pm Dr. Richard Cicala Upper Cervical Chiropractic and a Healthy Nervous System Dr. Cicala from Balanced Living Chiropractic in Rochester is one of only eight Michigan Chiropractors trained in the NUCCA technique. NUCCA, an acronym for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association, refers to a form of Chiropractic that focuses solely on the Atlas the donut like bone that surrounds the brain stem, located at the top of the spine and the base of the skull. The NUCCA method replaces the twisting, cracking and popping of traditional chiropractic with a very specific and gentle pressure that eases the bones into proper position. The technique is based on precise mathematical calculations, physics and biomechanics. He will be talking about various health topics and how upper cervical chiropractic can not only get rid of your aches and pains, but how having a healthy nervous system is essential to living a happy healthy life.

8 Page 8 ADVENT A TAX REMINDER On Sunday, November 30th we begin a season of preparation for Christmas called Advent. This is a time of Spiritual preparation for the celebration of Christmas. It s a time of preparing ourselves for the Christ Spirit to be born in us again. The word Advent comes from the Latin word Adventus and means the arrival or coming of light. So we are preparing for the arrival or coming of the Christ Child - the coming of the Christ Spirit into our hearts. Plan to be with us this holiday season and take part in the love, joy, music and spiritual awakening that awaits in your heart. Your love offerings are deductible. We keep records of checks and identifiable cash offerings. Of course, we can t track cash donations unless we know who made the contribution, so you may wish to place cash in an envelope with your name on it. For your year end giving, please make sure your check is dated December 31 or postmarked by December 31. Unity Church of Rochester 1038 Harding Rochester, MI Sent With Love and Blessings To:
