1 JULY DEACONS This Independence Day America will celebrate her 242nd birthday! We have aged well over the years as a nation, but in recent decades we have shown some signs of our aging. Abraham Lincoln said many years ago, My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth. If America is to have any hope, let alone be the hope of the earth, we must as a nation share in an awakening of our spiritual condition. I am convinced that America still has greatness and she has the potential to be a change agent for the entire world. There have been more missionaries come from America than any other nation. Our greatest mission as believers is the Great Commission issued by the Lord Jesus just before He ascended back to Heaven. I pray that the changes America needs to remain great will be found in the lives of Christ followers who grab hold of the marching orders given by the Lord Jesus. Like America, Judah had its problems. Jeremiah the prophet shared a message of repentance with his nation, but they would not heed the word. God then allowed Judah to be taken captive, but He gave them hope and a future because of those who remained faithful. As we share in our annual God and Country Day, I have a message from the Word of God that I pray will bring hope and encouragement to us as people. I pray this series of messages from When A Nation Forgets God has challenged you to strive to be what God desires you to be. For much of the rest of July, I will be sharing with you from the book of Daniel. Daniel lived after Judah was taken captive in the days of Jeremiah. He learned to stand up and stand out for God even in the midst of the corruption he was surrounded by. Dare to be Daniel! As a family of faith, we have seen God work in recent weeks in a marvelous way. We have seen God s saving power, His mercy and grace, His comfort and encouragement and His blessings. I am grateful to serve as your Senior Pastor and to walk through this journey of life with you. I know without a doubt that God has crossed our paths for this season of life with purpose and intention. I challenge you in these last days to be faithful, always abounding in the work of the Lord. I challenge you to be prayed up and studied up for soon we will be called up. We must always be about our Father s business. I also request your prayers as I will be traveling this month to Haiti to share in a Pastor s Conference. I am excited about the team God has put together this year. Several of us from Walnut will be going to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ through message, labor, sweat and maybe even a few tears. July is also the month of VBS (Vacation Bible School). This is the single most evangelistic thing we will do all year. Begin praying diligently that God will use this VBS to reach the hearts of many children, and even adults! July is going to be a great month and I encourage you to come be part of why it is great. We have many opportunities to serve. Come join and participate in all that God is doing. Blessings, Pastor Travis 2 WEEK OF: 7/01/18-7/07/18 7/08/18-7/14/18 7/15/18-7/21/18 7/22/18-7/28/18 7/29/18-8/04/18 Jim Glover & Richard Russelberg Ryan Hutchinson David Rice & Gary Lillpop Duke Oaks & Matt Brigance Mike Staples & Danny Richeson JULY KINGDOM KIDS VOLUNTEERS July 1st July 8th July 15th July 22nd July 29th Helen & Anna Grace Oakes and Amanda Vergason Candace Elliott, Brenda Miller, Secret Hurm and Megan Rice TEACHER NEEDED and Grant Richeson FAMILY SUNDAY No Kingdom Kids Amanda Hutchison and Jayden Richeson JULY FINANCE COUNTING TEAM Wayne Miller Mary Shultz Brad Bell JULY HALL MONITORS July 1st July 8th July 15th July 22nd July 29th Chris Staples Jonathan Staples Tom Heflin Mike Bosley Darrell Mason 11
