2 A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR Has your DNA test come in yet? If so then you are 1 of about 12 million Americans who have taken advantage of "Direct-to-Consumer" Genetic testing. Some DNA testing seeks to help you better understand your genetic makeup for health concerns. The majority are concerned with your heritage. Some companies like Ancestory.com are striking it rich by popularizing DNA testing as a means of identifying your genealogical record. We, humans, like to know how we are inner-connected and who we are related to. Jesus repeatedly plays on this desire to be inner-connected when he says things like, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it" (Luke 8:21). So as Christians, how should we be impacted by our desire to be innerconnected? To answer that question in the most concise way possible: if you are identified by the blood of Jesus that is a stronger bond than any biological connection (Eph. 2:11-13). To say it as simply as possible: "blood is thicker than blood." By professing faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior you became justified by his spilt blood on your behalf and immediately adopted into the family of God (Rom. 8:15-17). This relationship as sons and daughters of God has given us a new genetic code, all believers are now siblings (1 Peter 2:9-10). The expression of this new genetic code is the church. Yes, we are part of the universal church (all believers everywhere), but we are never called to express our relationship to other believers on a universal scale. We are, however, commanded in many ways to express our relationship to other believers in the context of a local specific church. We are to show familial affection and commitment to the other believers of our church (Rom. 12:10; 2 Peter 1:7). In the New Testament the church is not like a family, the church is a family. The most common expression of this relationship is coming together to remember the blood that unites us. So, we have a mandate to faithfully come together and participate in the Lord's Supper, which we did this past Sunday (1 Cor ). Our next time of gathering together for the Lord's Supper is December 16. Can't wait to be reminded of the connection with my family again on that day. Pastor Mitch

(Matthew 14:31-32) Who turned the water into wine (John 2:3-11) And healed the helpless cripple s spine, (Luke 13:11-16) Commands the tempest, Peace, be still (Mark 4:39) And hungry multitudes does fill? (John 6:9-13) His power is just the same today (Hebrews 13:8) So why not labor, watch and pray? (Matthew 26:41) He conquered in the lions den (Daniel 6:16-23) He brought Lazarus back to life again. (John 11:38-45) He heard Elijah s cry for rain (1 Kings 18:42-45) And freed the sufferers from pain. (Matthew 8:16-18) If He could do these wonders then, (Exodus 14:21-31) Let s prove our mighty God again. (Malachi 3:10) Why can t God who raised the dead, (1 Kings 17: 17-22) Gave little David Goliath s head, (1 Samuel 17:32-51) Cast out demons with a word, (Matthew 8:28-32) Yet see the fall of one wee bird, (Matthew 10:29) Do signs and miracles today (John 14:12) In that same good, old-fashioned way? (Acts 5:12-16) HE CAN! He s just the same today, (Ephesians 3:20) If we believe God when we pray. (Mark 11:23-24) May you be blessed as you continue your Bible readings! Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into HIM who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
